As an orthodox jew. I support the creation of a free and independent Palestinian state. This will end all the violence. As Jews we need to accept that Israel is the occupying force and we need to do the right thing and give Palestinians their own independent state free from Israeli interferences. ISRAEL, USA AND UK NEED TO STOP THE GENOCIDE TAKING PLACE ON THE OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN LANDS or history wont be kind to them as it wasn't to the Nazis and every other occupation.

(24,987 posts)Palestine has not been a homeland for the Jews since the days of the Roman Empire.
England has not been the homeland for Celtic Britons since maybe 500AD. Should the Anglo-Saxons be removed so Britons can reclaim their ancestral homeland?
The Navajo people have been in Arizona since 1,000 AD, having emigrated from Canada. Should the Navajo be expatriated to Canada so the descendants of the Ancestral Pueblo peoples can reclaim their ancestral homeland?

(19,491 posts)There are Muslim Arabs, Druze, Christians and lots of secular Jews who live in settlements.
And I was responding to your comment about birthright, people who obtain Israeli citizenship live all over Israel, not just settlements. You do realize this, right?
Does Israel have a right or not to decide who can be a citizen?

(19,491 posts)I actually watched a bit of that video, he claims Mizrahi Jews threaten them and aren't really Jews at all. It's like giving the Westboro Baptist Church an international platform and claiming that they represent true new Testament Christianity.
If this gets worse the owners are going to have to step in or something.

Don't like it when the gays are getting politically rowdy? No problem! Find the one gay guy with a vested interest in taking your side and prop him up so hard Gallagher would criticize you for being a little too much.
Dislike what you're hearing from the Black community? It's totally fine! Just tell us about that Black Friend you have who also thinks exactly as you do.
It's the Big Book of Minorities Who Agree With Me. On sale everywhere - but especially on social media.

(56,108 posts)I had a poster (an ethnic minority to boot) pull out the "some of my best friends" trope claiming her "very Jewish Hebrew professor" said anti-Semitism refers to Arabs and therefore they can't be anti-Semites. Pretty much when someone drags out the "my best friends" trope, be it like what I just described, a breakdown of who they have or are fucking, the Jew they once saw in a movie, and that one time at band camp when someone claiming to be a Jew agreed with them, it demonstrates the weakness of their position and they have to resort to a host of logical fallacies.

(10,969 posts)Sorry, "a breakdown of who they have or are fucking" is so true, and I guffaw/coughed coffee when reading it.
The only culture that's not my own that I can pretty comfortably discuss with some authority is Filipino. Partner, his rather large family who are at my house all the time for some reason, all of his friends, then like half of my friends somehow. I am marinating in cultural adobo.
But yeah, once you exchange fluids, you're practically an honorary member of any ethnicity or culture you're arguing about online. That's the widely accepted rule.
God, I must be like Epcot over here.

(56,108 posts)Your post reminded me of a staff member I had whose mother used to bring me lumpia for helping her daughter. I loved it! I have never had any since that compared to hers.
Oh and as for being Epcot, join the club! LOL!

(9,535 posts)Since about 1900, in fact. Many European Jews emigrated to Palestine in the early decades of the 20th c to escape growing European Antisemitism. Heck the British first suggested a Jewish homeland in the Mandate of Palestine in the 1920s.
