(7,611 posts)"NEW: Hamas militants were told by commanders to behead Israelis and cut their feet on October 7th, according to an Israeli interrogation video obtained and reviewed by Fox News.
A militant in his 20s also describes how Hamas used Telegram to share videos in real time as they conducted the massacre.
This militant says his commander, a man from Gaza City, told them they should not expect to return. Weve left out some incredibly graphic details about what Hamas did to the bodies of women they slaughtered. They are too disturbing to explain on TV."

(17,873 posts)I ask this because I served with all 3 branches of their equivalent of combat engineers, in Vietnam, the Aussies were fearsome and the VC had bounties out on their heads.

(42,031 posts)I read confirmation of headless bodies, including babies.
And by the way, why bring up the USS Liberty? In case you dont know that is code in certain circles.
For someone claiming support of Israel you seem to have a fixation on the detail of whether the decapitations were from knives or firepower. Does it really matter?
They found babies without heads. The military first on the scene saw what they saw. They didnt perform forensic test at the massacre sites.

(8,975 posts)could have used the phrase "firing shells/missiles at" or near equivalents. I think it was clear what was meant.

(6,257 posts)The point is, Hamas has other means of effectively delivering explosive devices - rockets, RPGs etc. It doesn't need an air force to do it.

(8,975 posts)None of us know the truth of any of these matters this soon after events. There will be plenty of verifiable horrors given time.
You may well be piled on early in your time on DU, however long that is, but that doesn't seem to phaze you, nor should it as long as you're looking for truth. That should be welcome here.
We've been through this mill with stories coming out of Ukraine at various times. Another conflict elsewhere shouldn't be any different.

(8,975 posts)That sometimes isn't a popular or clickworthy stance online, not just on DU (I've been through my own roastings from time to time, here and elsewhere), but it is what it is.

(22,355 posts)But the IDF never made the claim (of 40 beheaded babies ). It was a reporter who combined several different statements into the headline and later admitted he was wrong.
The original spokesman said there were at least 40 dead. Men, women even babies killed. Some with their heads cut.

(13 posts)On the Israel side, the beheadings story was spread despite being false. On the Palestinian side blame on Israel for the hospital bombing was spread despite being false.

(21,823 posts)The means of the children's murder is irrelevant in my mind.

(1,983 posts)In the first case, the babies were murdered one way or another, and we know by whom. Knowing the actual method doesn't change anything in weighing morality.
On the other hand, knowing who bombed a hospital very much changes how we should view whomever did it.

(7,395 posts)Within the first 10 hours of something "sensational", the truth is often not stated and misinformation rules the day. Everyone says whatever, and the truth is usually something that is 'discovered' later.
People would rather comment and hyperventilate in the first 10 hours. Accusations abound and fly all over the place in that time.
I wait 100 hours, or just over 4 days (4 x 24 = 96 hours). Then the REAL information starts flowing, but many people don't care or want to care. I do, however.
Instead, many of the same people that get histrionic and comment/post crazy about something in the first 10 hours, somehow go into ignore mode after 100 hours. They usually move onto something else.
My motto has always been "I don't care if it is first, I care that it is correct."

(2,317 posts)Hamas murdered children, either by shooting them, burning them, or beheading them (or maybe more than one). So the takeaway is that Hamas is comprised of a bunch of child murderers and should be eliminated, root and stem. Wouldnt you agree?
BlueCheeseAgain
(1,983 posts)I hope you don't mind me saying that is a very strange issue on which to stand and fight. You take an article about horrible atrocities, and that's what you took from it?
Did anyone in an official position actually claim 40 babies were beheaded? Or was it one of those social media things where people took two different things and put them together?
