Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has faced another blow to his hopes of being the Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential election after a poll showed a slump in support.
The survey conducted by the Emerson College Polling Center this month found that DeSantis had only 8 percent support among voters for the GOP primaries. That puts the governor level with former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, but well behind the frontrunner, former President Donald Trump.
At the start of his primary campaign, DeSantis had been seen as the greatest threat to Trump as he positioned himself as the best candidate to inherit his MAGA mantle.
However, the survey of 1,578 voters carried out on October 16 and 17 with a 2.4 percent margin of error showed that support for DeSantis had slumped four points, from 12 percent in September, while Haley's had risen from 3 percent.

(60,186 posts)So far, my prediction remains:
The Republican nominee in 2024 will not be named Trump, Pence, DeSantis, Haley or Scott
That does NOT mean Biden gets a free ride. On the contrary, it might mean that he'll have a real race on his hands.

(60,186 posts)Twelve years later, he knows what his chances are. Haley as VP is plausible. But if they are serious, for POTUS, theyll look for someone with Romneys demeanor, but a photogenic 50-something profile, in order to emphasize the age issue. Their nominee doesnt even need to be on the public radar yetjust be ready to face the media in January, and have made the rounds of the megadonors by the end of the year.

The poll was actually done in China. Xi told everyone to support Trump in the poll.

It boggles my mind that any mature adult can listen to the orange creature speak for more than a few minutes and actually want this bloviating ignoramus to be President of the United States.
Even before the two impeachments, attempted coup, and four criminal indictments with more than ninety felony counts, it should have been glaringly obvious he is a malignant narcissist and a pathological liar with no moral compass other than feeding his insatiable ego, greed, and base desires.
I feel like we're living among pod people who've been taken over by spores from outer space -- or from a recessive gene from within that severely impairs judgement.
