If you havent seen it on Netflix it is worth it. The thing I came away with is it reinforced my belief that many of the maggot supporters had terrible childhoods and the orange one is a father figure to them. The maggots, I have known in my personal life have all told me they had lousy childhoods and felt unloved. The orange one also had a lousy childhood and thats way they can relate to him. He speaks to their inferiority but makes them think they are a still great for supporting the daddy maggot!
I felt some sympathy for the people interviewed but all of them admitted they had lousy childhood and upbringings. Maybe if they had more love they might not be so weak. But their actions had consequences and they are paying for it.

(113,954 posts)so, just wanted to be clear.
I think Alexandra Pelosi has a lot of chutzpah and guts to do this (and other) documentaries, but I had to take a break halfway in. I find it so depressing that these people have learned NOTHING and unbelievably pathetic that they cannot see how they've been manipulated.

(31,759 posts)Fourth of nine. NOBODY wanted those children to hold and to love, but they were willing to "foster" them as farm hands and slaves in central Iowa. I should probably write a book, but I'll give you one of the main highlights: when my mom contracted influenza, her foster "parents" grabbed some cast off rusty tin and scrap wood and made a lean-to shelter not adequate for a dog against the side of the house. They threw in some hay, covered it with a layer of burlap sacks and threw her on top of it to die in her own filth. In the meantime, they called their local slave company, aka the Catholic orphanage and arranged for a slave trader, aka nun to come out and talk about getting them a replacement for the one dying beside the house. That slave trader showed up, pulled the scrap door aside, and shouted Mom's name to see if she still lived. Mom remembers opening her eyes and seeing the snow, swirling around the Habit she was wearing, followed by a scowl and the door being put back. Mom ruined everyone's plans by not dying that winter. After she recovered from her influenza she was never allowed back into the house to sleep. Following nightly prayers it was back outside for her. She ran away before winter the following year because she was afraid they might try to kill her again.
My mom was the SWEETEST, most forgiving and kind mother and person you could meet. She LOVED everyone.
Thank you very much for the heads up on something informative and interesting to watch. Much appreciated, but I must say boo hoo hoo to the stupid effing Q-bots and their "tough childhoods." I have literally nothing for them,

(27,248 posts)My mother also had a difficult upbringing and she and my Dad who was a cherished son made sure my sister and I got love.
I think about those who complain and bemoan they had screwed up childhoods.

We are responsible for ourselves. It is interesting to hear about how people came to where they are, but they are still at fault for the sins and illegalities they commit.

(9,339 posts)Yah, it was my laundry-folding "double feature" with "Nancy In The House" (which frustrated my wife and I as to why more attention hasn't been paid to the fact that TSF was impeached TWICE... which, on second thought, makes some sense since an indictment without a conviction is soon forgotten BUT I DIGRESS). BTW, EVERY disgruntled still-pissed-that-Bernie-lost-2-primaries-even-though-it's-their-own-damn-fault-for-putting-a-George Carlin-soundbite-over-substantive-proof-that-voting-is-essential leftist, BreadTuber should watch this documentary to see how the REAL WORLD works in DC.
Back on topic.
I detected some trolling among the subjects ESPECIALLY the brother-and-sister act. Oh we just out of the blue wanted to take a road trip MY ASS!
The only ones I felt sorry for were MC Proudboy's kids. Children have no choice of their parents, and they didn't get dealt a great hand because, forgetting for a millisecond about the old man's latest visit to the federal pen, it's probably tough enough for this guy with his rap sheet (no pun intended) to get a decent job. Also, they could end up being the next generation of whatever devolution of MAGA is still around because they're hearing all these faulty notions in a bubble without real context. Sad.
Kudos to Alexandra for keeping it chill while confronting these people that CLEARLY would have mutilated and tortured her mother if they got their hands on her, meek denials notwithstanding.
