This is a very important story to remind folks of.

Remember when republicans cut a deal with the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeinito keep Americans hostage longer and not release them until Reagan took over. Iran wanted and was willing to release American hostages under President Carter.

Republicans make a deal with the terrorists behind President Carter's back to KEEP AMERICANS HOSTAGE. Republicans have been domestic terrorists longer than you knew.

With Eric Prince, Michael Flynn & Steve Bannon all talking about using hostages to weaken Biden like Reagan used hostages to weaken Carter, I just want to remind you that what Reagan did was horrendous, and if you don’t know why, this is worth the watch.

4. Goes back to 1953 when Eisenhower (through the Dulles brothers) overthrew the democratically elected prime minister

Mossadegh "whose 'crime' was nationalizing the country's oil industry". This is because the totally corrupt Shah who held power before Mossadegh had given Iran's oil to the US and the UK keeping only 4% of the profits for Iran. So, the people threw out the Shah and democratically elected Mossadegh who was taking back his country for its people.

A CIA agent stationed in Iran went to Truman and said "I can overthrow Mossadegh and we can get the oil back. Truman said "NO". The agent (who was Teddy Roosevelt's grandson named, wait for it, Kermit Roosevelt) waited until Eisenhower was elected and got the Dulles brothers to help him. We staged a revolution, installed a Shah of our own, who was also totally corrupt, and kept stealing the oil.

The next revolution put in the current nut jobs. You can hardly blame them for hating us.

Read: All the Shah's Men for the full story. It will make you furious.

13. Desperate Measures: Truman, Eisenhower, and the Lead-up to Operation Ajax

In August 1953, the American CIA and British SIS collaborated with the Shah of Iran and elements of the Iranian military to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh in Operation Ajax. The coup marked the culmination of an ongoing crisis that had begun when Mossadegh nationalized the holdings of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company in 1951.

Operation Ajax has become one of the controversial episodes of the early Cold War on account of what many see as its role in creating the “blowback” of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. However, historians cannot properly engage in the blowback debate without understanding why the United States undertook such a bold policy.

This thesis interrogates explanations for the decision to approve Operation Ajax and analyzes their strengths and shortcomings using primarily archival evidence, some not available to many previous scholars, and accounts of participants in the crisis. In doing so, I engage theories of American policy in the larger Cold War. Finally, the thesis questions the limits that scholars impose between those different theories and advocates a multilayered approach to Cold War history.

You never forget the first time you’re ratfu*ked by weasel Republicans. I’ve carried a grudge since they opposed a genuinely humble and competent president like Jimmy Carter.

If they oppose good, you can bet it’s because their long-term plan includes evil.

…Jimmy Carter’s second term.

The GOP has been loathsome for a very, very long time. Charles Pierce likes to say that the Republican Party “ate the monkey brains under Reagan, and now we are witnessing the GOP in the final throes of prion disease.” It’s one of Pierce’s most memorable observations.
