the MAGAs got what they wanted, a hardliner that will not fund Ukraine and make no deals with Democrats. The so-called Moderates in the Republican caucus will not save us. I hope this cost them the House in 2024.

(6,103 posts)The moderates might be worn-down to the point that they'll vote for anyone just to get this nightmare behind them.
Then, of course, comes the real nightmare of having a MAGA crazy man with the gavel in his power.

(113,220 posts)I'm pretty sure I saw Buck interviewed last night say he'd vote for him.

If you can show otherwise, please post it, but I heard him multiple times over the past days. And to say otherwise without proof is just not helpful. Buck is a part-time professor of constitutional law and this is necessary for him if he wants to continue to do so--not to mention his once employee (who he fired) Jenna Ellis has already been censured by the CO Bar for her 2020 election lies.

(1,280 posts)Sorry I don't have a video for you...I believe it was on Abby Philips show though. Buck said he'd vote for him. When pressed, he said that it wasn't a Jim Jordan situation because there was evidence that Jordan was in on the scheme to overthrow the election, but there wasn't any that Johnson was.

(37,182 posts)McCarthy was, and still is, an asshole. He wouldn't work with the Dems on important issues. So why is it up to the Dems to save his sorry ass?
We have to be tough when dealing with Republicans.
honest.abe
(9,238 posts)I would have recommended just sitting it out and not even showed up for the McCarthy vote.

(4,400 posts)Didn't even require an affirmative vote to keep him.

(9,238 posts)Unfortunately it looks like Gaetz is going get what he wanted. A MAGA as House Speaker.

(2,508 posts)Like we did ahead of other votes, so I think this is very likely. Third in line for the presidency, some Maga guy with funny hair that no one has ever heard of. He literally started serving in 2017.

(12,738 posts)Of pure right wing shit he is for, he believes Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme and needs to be ended, as well as Medicare. And the fact that the Male corn cob shucker, Boob-Bert, was front and center by the podium with him for his acceptance last night, grinning like her nipples where being stroked, says all you need to know. She was Stroking the Johnson like a date at a play.
We. Are. Sooo Fucked!!!! Where is the fight from Dems? Show some outrage. At minimum find every mic you can and rage about the takeover of this country.
The shutdown over the entire holidays is eminent, and directed by the orange DICKTator. GQP will just laugh as they cash their checks.
