It's bad, but not the end of the world

The cult is getting louder, worse for America, more embarrassing, more sickening and they’ve forced someone truly repulsive on us to be Speaker for the next year.

But this is not permanent. We will get through this, and Speaker Jeffries will happen the next time we win.

It’s just a never-ending battle we have to keep fighting. We stay in this, we will win. MAGA is a cancer, but we don’t have to succumb to it.

1. MAGA makes one as unhappy as cancer, but...

MAGA won’t grow. Whatever numbers they currently have, that’s the max. The danger is that small minority being put into key positions of power.

I’m guardedly hopeful, given the recent off-cycle elections in which Democratic candidates and/or democracy-aligned issues are winning with larger than expected margins. Ohio’s vote in the next week-plus will clarify whether that trend continues in a state that’s unfortunately moved backward over the past decade.

MAGA is America’s equivalent of Nazi, and more and more they seem fine with that comparison. Tells you all you need to know.

https://www.adl.org/resources/news/inappropriate-comparisons-trivialize-holocaust

Another growing threat to the memory of the Six Million is when the Holocaust becomes grist for inappropriate Nazi and/or Hitler comparisons. Particularly in the United States, Holocaust trivialization has seeped into the mainstream.

It has become the political weapon of choice to roll out the Nazi and Hitler analogies. Take the debate in America over gun control legislation. In the past year we have seen a proliferation of remarks comparing gun control legislation in the U.S. to policies upheld by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.

National pundits and others inside and outside of politics have compared the issue of gun control in the U.S. to actions taken by the Nazi regime. Earlier this month, for instance, rock musician and gun advocate Ted Nugent compared film producer Harvey Weinstein to a Nazi propagandist, staging that those who watch Weinstein's planned film about the National Rifle Association "will see that Joseph Goebbels and Saul Alinsky is alive in the form of a fat punk named Harvey Weinstein."

My own notes... no, MAGAT's are not NAZIS. They're a segment of a political party, no different than the German AFD or the Hungarian FIDESZ.

Reading a little history might help.

As sometimes occurs without proper forethought, I used the phrase Nazi carelessly. I know some, not all, of the history you’ve referenced, and agree I could be more circumspect going forward.

Nazi and Fascist are vastly overused nowadays...

The Bus driver who ALWAYS checks your monthly pass isn't a "Nazi"...

Ukraine. Democracy and freedom will take a gut punch if this guy does what he says, and our restored reputation as a world leader will once again be in the tank.

I did see an article a couple of months ago out of maybe Germany or Poland that talked about the EU needing to be less reliant on the might of American military. No doubt they were looking towards a time like this

Still, our standing in NATO and as a world leader will sink like a stone.

The crazy will be on full display for all to see - and right before an election. Not good for them.

We'll get through this.

HATED Jordan is personally. It was never about policy. The entire disgusting GQP are all on the same page there. There are no moderates.

in 2025..... I have no doubt about that... the margin is so small anyway...

but that is an eternity away from now.... so it will be hard to endure...

But the GQP HOUSE will probably do every little thing they want to do in the meantime,
"to make a statement",

so the American people will have no doubt what is left of the GQP party 'stands for'....

I suspect that will not help them, when voters go to the polls in 2024...
