The House passed a resolution affirming its support for Israel amid a war against the Hamas militant group, marking the first vote since the lower chamber ousted its speaker three weeks ago.
Lawmakers voted 412-10 to pass the bipartisan resolution, seeking to denounce the violence and highlighting the United Statess dedication to defending a key ally. The four-page resolution was filed earlier this month just days after Hamas launched an attack on Israel from Gaza, prompting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to declare war on Oct. 7. Six members voted present: Reps. Greg Casar (D-TX), Joaquin Castro (D-TX), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Chuy Garcia (D-IL), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Nydia Velazquez (D-NY).

The no vote people will probably be explaining their votes soon. Massie had a social media post up, but I think it's gone now and I didn't save it

(37,535 posts)Somehow it's worse to not vote than vote no? I don't understand that.
Those voting against:
Jamaal Bowman of New York
Cori Bush of Missouri
Andre Carson of Indiana
Al Green of Texas
Summer Lee of Pennsylvania
Thomas Massie of Kentucky
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York
Ilhan Omar of Minnesota
Delia Ramirez of Illinois
Rashida Tlaib of Michigan
They each had their reasons.
