Shooting - Buffalo NPR just interrupted programming to announce

that shots were fired on the I-190 near an exit to the Peace Bridge that connects NY with Ontario, Canada.

Two persons known to have been shot.

EDIT TO ADD: One person dead, 2 others in the hospital in serious condition. Several shots fired at their car. They are all Sewer Authority employees who were in an official car.

Anyone in the USA north and east of Memphis could reach that spot by car by now.

But to do that, he'd have to have had Buffalo in mind as a destination and would have programmed it into his GPS. There are no direct routes from southern Maine through VT, NH, and northern NY, then across the entire state, from northeastern NY to southwestern NY. The distance from Lewiston, ME to Buffalo is around 600 miles, or 9 hours by car.

The other possible route would be south from ME to MA, then across all of NY, from the MA/NY border to the opposite side of the state to Buffalo. I have driven that distance, from Buffalo to Albany and back. Allowing for bathroom breaks and 2 stops for food, it was 10 hours.

It says southbound so does that mean they were likely coming out of Canada?

6. The I-190 is in the US side.

Could have been coming from Canada.

But there is a network of side streets and exits around the I-190. Someone could have got onto it from the US side of the Bridge, headed south.

People are more hyper aware of it at the moment.

4. There's so many shootings per day it's hard to know if any are related - guns. They're everywhere here. n/t

8. There is no explanation yet for the shooting.

Could be road rage. Could be personal between people who know each other. No word yet on whether the shots were fired at people in the car of the shooter or at a passing car. Or from the ground at passing cars. It just happened and police are still sorting it out.
