A lot of my friends watched it during our teenage years. I was never really into it - I still haven't sat down and watched it to this day. But anyone my age absorbed a lot of it over time from cultural osmosis, and the stars were pretty much pop culture fixtures.

However, there's been a huge resurgence in recent years due to streaming. My partner watches it all the time. I see Gen Zers referencing it all over the place, as it gets a lot of play on YouTube and TikTok. My nieces and nephews make references to it. Its second life has been interesting to observe.

As celebrity deaths go, it's a pretty big deal. All eyes are immediately pivoting to the other five actors and wondering what they'll say.

It's recommended that one doesn't stay in those things more than 15 minutes. The heat can really mess with blood pressure, etc., which could cause one to pass out. Not a good thing when one is submersed in water. Regardless of the cause, it's still very sad. He seemed like a decent guy, in spite of his demons.

Particularly if they're undiagnosed/untreated. My partner had heart surgery for undiagnosed afib in his early 30s and is on medication, and his doctors told him he can probably do a hot tub for short periods, but maybe just avoid the entire situation. Of course, that made him so paranoid, he won't even take warm baths to this day.

It can become one of those, "Ask your doctor" things later in life.

I thought he was just an affable lightweight on Friends, but watching Studio 60 again all these years later I was struck by the brilliance and range of his acting. I recall when it originally ran, the network moved the series around so much viewers sometimes couldn't find it, which killed its chances.

Over a dozen life-saving operations, 15 trips to rehab and 6,000 visits to AA: How Matthew Perry spent $9MILLION on battle with drink and drugs addiction - and at one point was told by doctors he had just a 2% chance of surviving

---

As his loved ones raced to the Los Angeles hospital where they were told the then 49-year-old had only a 2 per cent chance of surviving the night, doctors were preparing to connect the Friends star to a machine nicknamed the 'Hail Mary.'

Used to mechanically oxygenate the blood so that the heart and lungs can rest and heal, it is considered a last resort.

Perry, was in need of desperate measures thanks to his years of drug abuse, heavy drinking and dependence on powerful painkillers.

On that touch-and-go night in 2018, his addiction to opioids had left him with pneumonia and a burst colon.

Shortly after being admitted to hospital he slipped into a coma, which would last two weeks.

When he came round he discovered he had been fitted with the colostomy bag he had to wear for the next nine month

He put his whole body through Hell for a long time. He didn't even remember 3 years of Friends since he was so fucked up and that is why he couldn't watch any reruns. 55 Oxy a day ....wow.
