Footage shows crowds, displaced people at al-Quds Hospital

Hospital authorities report receiving five warnings from the Israeli army, with warnings that the premises will be bombed imminently.

The hospital is located in Tal al-Hawa, in Gaza City, and affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent. Hundreds of citizens have flocked to the hospital as it continues to admit victims of the ongoing Israeli bombardment in Gaza.

The footage, shot hours before the Israeli threats and obtained by Al Jazeera on Sunday, also reveal the presence of ambulances and medical teams stationed at the hospital’s entrance.

The hospital is sheltering 12,000 displaced civilians, with a majority being children and women.

WHO concerned by reports of warning to bomb Gaza hospital

The WHO head says reports the Palestinian Red Crescent received warnings from the Israeli authorities to immediately evacuate al-Quds Hospital in the Gaza Strip were “deeply concerning”.

“We reiterate – it’s impossible to evacuate hospitals full of patients without endangering their lives,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X.

The hospital is located in the Tel al-Hawa area of the Gaza Strip.

2. IDF spokesperson Maj. Nir Dinar told CNN on Sunday, "They received much more than two warnings for the last three weeks

PRCS "has just received a new threat by the Israeli Authorities this morning, ordering the team to immediately evacuate Al Quds Hospital," reads a statement from the organization.

"Two phone calls were received, with a clear and direct threat, that the hospital must be evacuated at once, otherwise PRCS holds full responsibility for the lives of everyone inside the hospital," PRCS said.

In response to questions about the PRCS statement, IDF spokesperson Maj. Nir Dinar told CNN on Sunday, "They received much more than two [warnings] for the last three weeks."

Al Quds Hospital is treating hundreds of patients, including wounded people, patients in intensive care and children in incubators, PRCS said. In addition, approximately 12,000 internally displaced civilians are currently sheltering at the hospital.

PRCS management and operations teams, who are helping civilians staying in the north of the Gaza Strip, are also stationed in the hospital, the organization said.

3. Gaza hospital

Just watched interview on Al Jazeera English with a Norwegian doctor who has been to Gaza for many years working at the hospitals there and is very familiar with Al-Quds hospital. He described the situation there as extraordinarily dire and impossible for people to evacuate as Israel is demanding. They no longer have a supply of needles needed for drawing and giving blood. This is a humanitarian crisis of huge magnitude. He spoke about the rules of the Geneva Conference. He has been all over the hospital for years. Knows it inside and out. Has never been barred from any area or seen a locked area he can’t access. He said if he had any indication over the years of Hamas in this hospital he would never work there since he believes strongly in Geneva convention. And how frightened he is for the patients they are trying to care for them. There are over 14,000 people sheltering there as well.

4. So Israel is going to waste rockets on a non-target

Not sure I buy that. A guy worked in a hospital and says he didn’t see anything. What would be the point of hitting the hospital otherwise?

A guy on TV is saying that there is no target there for Israel to strike. Even though the munitions that they are going to use cost hundreds of thousands if not millions and Israel has an intelligence division saying otherwise. Nope instead they are going to waste those resources because????

To be mean? That’s the other side of the coin? They are doing it to be mean. K. Got it.

Hey maybe he is right. Maybe Hamas would just let the doc know they were there if they were.

"Hospital authorities"

"The WHO head says..."

"Israeli authorities"

The writer can't even be bothered to look up who the "head" of WHO is.

It's either bad propaganda or a good parody of it.

10. Statement: The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
Sun Oct 29, 2023, 11:13 AM
Oct 2023

''We are deeply alarmed to hear that the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) teams at the al-Quds hospital have again this morning been told to immediately evacuate the hospital. Hospitals are places of help and refuge; they must be protected at all cost.

PRCS’s al-Quds hospital in Gaza city is caring for hundreds of injured people and bed-ridden, long-term patients. Evacuating patients, including those in intensive care, on life-support and babies in incubators, is close to, if not impossible in the current situation. Our teams also report violent attacks and shelling very close to the hospital further endangering people. Al-Quds Hospital is operated by PRCS, a component of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and together with other medical missions and facilities are protected under international humanitarian law.

We are deeply concerned about the safety of patients, health care workers and the thousands who have taken refuge in al-Quds Hospital. Healthcare workers should never be put in front of the impossible dilemma of leaving patients behind or risking their lives staying in the hospital.''
