Either that or the person running it has got bored and set it to ludicrous mode.

Our future is starting to resemble mad max a lot more than star trek.

Star Trek's fictional history of the 20th century included eugenics wars and a large-scale nuclear war for World War III. I feel like the eugenics wars aren't on our planetary bingo card and Khan Noonien Singh is unlikely to make an appearance, but you never can tell when it comes to a good old-fashioned large-scale nuclear war. That might be a 21st century thing.

With any luck, the Vulcans are on the way to rescue us. I would also accept the Trill or the Orions.

A concept we've been grappling with since coming down out of the trees.

You see, hidden within the unconscious, there is an insatiable desire for conflict. So, you're not fighting me, so much as you are the human condition. All I want to do is own the bullets and the bandages.
