Daily reminder of Stuff the Speaker of the House believes

Trump, he believes, is an institutionalist. “He doesn’t articulate it in the same way that some old constitutional-law nerds would,” he said, “but that’s what he is.”
In his lawsuit challengingly the Pennsylvania vote in the election in 2020, he signed onto a brief with this statement in it

“Our Country stands at an important crossroads. Either the Constitution matters and must be followed, even when some officials consider it inconvenient or out of date, or it is simply a piece of parchment on display at the National Archives.”

Why Representative Mike Johnson Thinks That the Election Isn’t Over

He also said

I don’t see a grand conspiracy,” he said in the middle of that month. “What I see is a lot of chaos and confusion across the land, and the result is that this election will have this giant question mark hanging over it. I saw a new poll: a huge amount of the country doubts the election and thinks it was stolen from Donald Trump. Thirty-six percent of registered voters in America believe the election was stolen. That is a problem. Whether it was stolen or not, the fact that such a huge swath of the country believes that it was is something that should keep all of us up at night.”

He declined to answer a question Tuesday night about his role in objecting to the 2020 results. The assembled lawmakers standing behind him booed the reporter who asked it.

Only if Biden did. The 2020 election was tainted, but not all the seats we won in Congress. Just the presidential election. I love how that logic works out.
