(5,455 posts)He expresses it a heck of a lot better than I do, but that is exactly what I think! Both are true. What Hamas did on 10/7 was horrific, and the occupation and suffering of Palestinians in Gaza are unbearable.
Besides, Hamas is now fighting the Israeli military and NOT killing or attacking civilians the way the Israeli government is.

(8,710 posts)missiles into Israel anymore?

(5,455 posts)I haven't heard of any casualties. Is Iran supplying them with the same deadly weapons that we are supplying to the Israeli government to attack and kill thousands in Gaza?
SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)than 8000 rockets & missiles into Israel since Oct 7, and more than 250, 000 Israelis have evacuated away from borders. How many are killed by the attacks isnt really relevant - whats relevant is that Hamas continues to attack Israel, yet some people are calling for what amounts to a unilateral ceasefire.
And am I understanding you correctly with the regards to the missiles used by Hamas? Are you actually implying that its not a fair fight? I seem to recall that you made a similar statement previously.

(9,622 posts)Most of them civilians and some of them children. They continue to commit their crime.
Nuttyahoo refuses to allow a ceasefire to get them out. He continues to put them in danger because he won't trade them for the 1000's of Palestinians held in Israel.

"....JERUSALEM (AP) Israel is holding over 1,200 detainees nearly all of them Palestinians without charge or trial, the highest number in over three decades, an Israeli human rights group said Tuesday.
The detainees, 99% of whom are Palestinians, are held under Israels policy of administrative detention, without trial and under allegations that Israeli authorities keep secret.
The detentions can range from a few months to years and authorities often extend them for unknown reasons, according to Jessica Montell, the executive director of Hamoked, the rights group that published the figures.
Hamoked said this makes it nearly impossible for detainees or their lawyers to mount a proper defense.
The overall figure is outrageous, Montell said. This is a patently illegal practice. These people should be given a fair trial or released.
Israeli authorities can renew administrative detentions indefinitely. While detention orders are usually set for periods of three or six months, Montell said administrative detainees in Israel spend a year in detention on average.
Israel says the controversial tactic is necessary to contain dangerous militants and avoid divulging incriminating material for security reasons. But Palestinians and rights groups say the system denies due process and is widely abused...."

(9,622 posts)They dont need a cease fire to do it, and doing so would add support to calls for a ceasefire.
There should be no ceasefire without an explicit commitment to an an immediate release of those hostages.

(5,455 posts)the Israeli government will stop bombing Gaza if the hostages are released?
SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)would stop bombing long enough to get the hostages out, but thats only part of the equation.
If Hamas wants the bombing to stop, they need to release the hostages and surrender.
Happy Hoosier
(9,622 posts)They wont stop if they arent released. And holding the civilian hostages is despicable. Hamas has no moral leg to stand on. They do not give a shit about civilians, Palestinian or Israeli. Its all blood sacrificed to their blood-soaked cause.

(4,774 posts)but as long as you insist in the immature misspelling of Netanyahu, I cannot take anything you say seriously.
This is a very complicated and grave issue, and the silly use of "nicknames" adds no gravitas to your assertions. If you want to be taken seriously, then please speak like an adult. You may have some very valid points, but they are lost in perceived naivety and immaturity.
This is a life or death issue.
