'Trump has become more detached from reality': ABC host raises alarm as election nears

Last edited Mon Nov 6, 2023, 11:07 AM - Edit history (1)

TFG has been showing signs of senility for some time and this detachment from reality is getting worse.

https://www.rawstory.com/trump-detached-reality/

During the ABC "This Week" roundtable panel discussion on poll numbers matching up President Joe Biden against presumptive GOP 2024 presidential nominee Donald Trump, host Jonathan Karl complained that there has not been near enough attention paid to the mental decline of Trump......

"Trump, since he left the White House, and this is really the theme of my book, has become more detached from reality than he ever was even in the White House," he claimed.

To make his case, he continued, "If you think of where we were in January of 2021, that's the starting point for where a Trump presidency would be next time around. So I think he's had largely, believe it or not, a free ride. Again, the criminal cases we know about, but what he's thinking, what he's doing, he had a speech just the other day in Texas where he referred to the people that are in prison because they attacked the U.S. Capitol and beat up police officers, he called them not prisoners but hostages."

"Trump has become also increasingly confused about things. He sometimes he thinks that he lost to [Barack] Obama in the last election," he offered. "He confuses basic facts and says some rather strange things, but there isn't much attention paid. As we get closer to these primaries, we'll see where not just Trump is based on these criminal cases, but where he is now as a human being."

is not evidence of Trump losing touch with reality. He is using the word hostages for effect on his followers, not because he actually believes it, but because calling them that riles his base.

Three Jeopardy finalists the other night could not name the first presidential election since 1952 where the candidates didn't include a former President or Vice President. They all missed it. So how is Trump supposed to know who he ran against if Jeopardy finalists can't even go back to 2008?

Terrorists take hostages. I'm sure tRump has heard the word multiple times and so he opens his mouth and out pops "hostages". A "weaponized Justice Department", his go to insult, would be arresting political prisoners. If tRump were to be reelected, that is what you would see. Not to worry. He will be a babbling, drooling idiot long before next November.

They like a strongman, and despite claims of “gotcha” questions, widely distributed public humiliation would be kryptonite to his poll numbers.

He may eventually regain some of that later on down the line, the mobs memory is pretty piss poor. But I think he might have lost enough wits to make it a real difficulty for him to focus well enough to make it through a debate.

You could argue walking out of the debate on live television in a huff after some supposed slight would supercharge his base, but at that point, I think that base is a pretty insignificant number with respect to winning elections.

No, no, no. He must not EVER be allowed anywhere near the White Hoyse again. He could do irreparable damage to this country in a very brief amount of time.

Among other things, he would doubtless be surrounded by toadies and sycophants who would onstantly cover for him and clean up any messes he makes as fast as he makes them. Those toadies would be chosen for their support of his agenda of turning the U.S. into a fascist dictatorship, and they would do their best to make that happen.

I know that right now he looks like a shoo-in to win the GOP candidacy, and I also know that we are constantly being bombarded by polls of questionable accuracy that paint him as leading over Biden. But we must not allow ourselves to be distracted by any of that. Our job, as Democrats, is to GOTV and make sure Biden wins.

Trump must NOT be allowed to win in November. That way lies disaster. That's all there is to it.

The last time I saw a photo of him giving a speech, he was leaning heavily on the lectern as if he needed it to support himself. Does the media ever show any video of him walking into a venue these days? After that episode where he had trouble walking down a ramp and looked scared, has the media been barred from access to show his current physical condition?

Well, keep wishing he's senile, because he's not. He's only doing what any malignant narcissist does when he feels besieged--sling anything at the wall to see what will get people off his back.

I keep telling people that these people will say and do *A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G* if they're challenged or thwarted. I've even used the deeply painful and personal example of my "normal" narcissist mother calling me ugly and fat, therefore too stupid to listen to when she was losing an argument to try to show how they operate.

TFG is doing the *SAME THING,* and it's the *SAME THING* he has been doing for decades--attacking anyone who disagrees with him. He does not care if what he says makes sense. He doesn't care if it's a lie. He doesn't even care if it sounds unhinged. He says whatever can come to him *in the moment* to shut up the other person and reassert his mistaken sense of superiority.

Later, after he gets flack over it, he'll say it was a joke, or even that people lied about what he said, but *in the moment* of when he and his fragile ego feels threatened, he will say whatever can shut people up and restore his shallow pride.

This is what narcissists *do.*

coming from a recent NYT poll. I call BS on that as I'm African-American and know better from conversations of disgust at such a notion with family, friends and associates.

That's like suggesting that white magat men are suddenly supporting Nancy Pelosi for president.

It's ridiculous. The same bs meme was circulating in 2020 and some Dems even were critiquing some Black men, while Black men were support Dem candidates at the second highest level of any demo segment...88%, while Black women of course were supporting Dems at a 95% rate.

And that was coming from some demo segments who weren't anywhere close to those levets of support.
