That is the obvious media ploy, every "effing" time.
Tuned into MSNBC for a bit, and one of their spokesmodels was talking about the Virginia election results.
As a reminder, rich Retrumplicans pumped a shit-ton of money into Virginia. After the state had lost their minds in 2021 and elected 3 fascists to their 3 highest statewide offices, MAGAts controlled Gov, Lt. Gov, AG and the State House. Dems controlled the Senate.
Thanks to the Dems holding the Senate, Virginia was prevented from becoming Eastern Alabama.
Glen Youngkin was going to put on his Mr. Rogers garb and march out of this election with control of the entire state.
Well, instead of that plan, Dems held the Senate, took the House, swept Moms-for-liberty School Board candidates out like yesterdays trash, and sent the Assholes with Casseroles running off to Newsmax with their tales between their legs.
The MSNBC dude just couldn't resist pointing out that "had just a couple thousand votes in a few races went the other way, the Rs would have won", so "Dems know they shouldn't celebrate too much".
Well, like my dad used to say; "If, dog, rabbit", and I would say; "what does that mean?", and then my dad would say; "if the dog hadn't stopped to take a leak, he'd have caught the rabbit"....
I will bet my left-nut that had the MAGAts been successful, there would have been no discussion about how a "few votes could have changed it". The media would have depicted Youngkin as the second coming of Christ.
It's really hard for me to understand. The media needs to know that they will be the first ones marched off to the gulag if these Dipshits win.

(6,364 posts)But, did Presley offer anything different for the voters? He's anti-abortion and THAT is why he lost. Two anti-abortion candidates, you aren't going to vote for tge new guy.

(100,656 posts)Second, Mississippi is pretty much a lost cause for the time being. Fox and AM radio are too powerful there. Dems should be focusing on states we could actually have a chance at flipping.

(4,552 posts)is 10% of the vote. That would qualify as a landslide.
When my next door neighbor in Pennsylvania ran for mayor of our town a few years ago, and came back from the precinct meeting where they counted the votes and announced the winner, I asked him how he did.
"Well, it was close. I only won by 25 votes." A total of 32 people voted.

I say FUCK THAT! Spike the ball. Do 10 minute victory dance for the camera and then write Op=Ed pieces that predict the doom of the Republican Party and recommend good books for the to take with them off the island because the public CLEARLY and DECISIVELY (even if it was by a single goddamn vote) have spoken.

(7,510 posts)I remember MANY times when Republicans win it's mandate mandate mandate mandate mandate mandate forever. When Dems win it's DO THEY have a mandate? Then we bring on people to explain why a Blue Wave really means nothing. We need legitimate news media in this nation again.
