(17,428 posts)the third Wednesday of every month and the 15th is the third Wednesday. My bank shows it will be deposited then. I usually get mine on the third day of the month. Was on disability for years and just received notice today that I am now on regular retirement benefits.

(24,486 posts)Perhaps a better title would have been: "Who else got their SS check early?" I didn't but I'm confident I will have my check direct deposited into my banking account on December 1 since the 3rd, when I usually get my SS check, is on a Sunday.

(28,469 posts)I do not believe anyone still gets an actual check. I think that those who don't have checking accounts get money loaded on to a debit card.
But your question is "Did anyone else get their SS deposit early?"
I'm slightly surprised at the answers here that indicate a slippage in exactly when the deposits happen. I was under the impression that the deposit Wednesday is determined by your birth date.
If you were born on the 1st through the 10th of the month, youll be paid on the second Wednesday of the month.
If you were born on the 11th through the 20th of the month, youll be paid on the third Wednesday of the month.
If you were born after the 20th of the month, youll be paid on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

(28,469 posts)I originally collected from my husband's account, because we were divorced, and then at age 70 switched to my own SS account. Because his birthday was earlier than mine, I continue to get my current deposit on the third Wednesday, because that's where his birthday put it.
I'm honestly puzzled at the reports of deposits showing up at different times.

(56,162 posts)it sat in my bank for 3 days pending the deposit. I receive the email that it was deposited today. It was.

(28,469 posts)Why does it not simply get deposited?
I'm honestly confused by this. My Social Security, my pension, my two annuities, and the money I get from my investment account are all deposited directly. And on exactly the days they are supposed to be deposited. Why is this different for others? I seem to be missing something here.

(2,891 posts)Several months ago, I switched my SS direct deposit from Bank A to Bank B. The only reason I did so was because Bank B offered me a $325 bonus if I opened an account with them, maintained a certain minimum balance, and HAD TOTAL DIRECT DEPOSITs to my account in an amount > $1,500 within the first 90 days of opening the account. Not only that, but if I opened a credit card with them and charged more than, I forget, but I think only $500, with them in the first 90 days they'd credit me $200.
So I switched my SS to them and unlike my original bank, I got this pending notice around 4 days before it actually hit my account. Not only that, it was also AVAILABLE prior to the actual deposit date.
What you are missing could be that banks are different in their treatment of the availability of SS payments. My Bank A NEVER would show my payment as pending (except for the evening prior), it was only availabe on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, period.
Oh, and the easiest $525 I've made in quite some time! I have no idea why this is worth this to them.

(8,780 posts)was offering what seemed to me like a crazy offer. If you opened up a basic Fidelity account they would give you something like $500.00 even without a direct deposit, average daily balance requirement etc. I didn't go for it because it just seemed like there had to be a hook someplace because I couldn't imagine I could open an account for like $250.00 and someone is going to give me double just because I did.

(35,013 posts)I remember I went to our state registry for unclaimed property website and filed a claim, forgot all about it. Then I got a deposit from the state DOR and assumed it was my state tax refund. But then I thought about it and it didn't add up. I later realized it was in fact the unclaimed property payment.

(76 posts)about 4 or 6 months ago they started coming several days earlier than that.

(15,102 posts)That used to happen to my dad occasionally due to when his check was due to arrive. If Veteran's Day landed on a Friday, his Social Security would come in early also. They process on a Friday and pay out the next week. So if that Friday is a holiday, they process early.

As far as payments arriving early or late, I know nothing about that...

(59,761 posts)Mine goes into my account in Texas, and my wifes goes into her account in Düsseldorf, as she has no need of a bank account in the USA. I dont monitor my American bank account often, so I dont know when payments come in. I dont use it a lot, except to write checks for things in the USA.
Our daughters are still over a quarter century away from eligibility, so who knows if Social Security will still even be there when its their time? If their overall situations dont change, our New York based daughter will definitely apply when the time comes. Our Germany-based daughter makes so much money, she could have her payment deducted from her account each month and she wouldnt even notice. She also is generous with her sister, so we are not worried about either one, should anything happen to us, which, sooner or later, it inevitably will.

(37,025 posts)I do in Line Banking only. Zero on line banking, I stand in line at the bank. No bank accounts on my computer.
Less risk of getting hacked and job security for the tellers. Those lines have got shorter over the years and fewer employs to serve us. All of the tellers know me.
