1. While I think Biden is likely to win, it's depressing enough not to be able to rule out...

...a Trump win entirely and categorically.

In a half-decent, half-reasonable country, Trump winning should be utterly, entirely out of the question. Yet the threat looms overhead, and there's not nearly enough concern voiced by nearly enough people.

I think that as the election draws closer, and as Trump's legal problems mount, we'll see enough more people wake up, and enough of a loss of enthusiasm on the part of non-Trumpy middle-of-the-road Republicans (those still exist in the electorate, if not in elected office) for Biden to eke out a win.

Unless, of course, the economy takes a nose-dive, or some other major problem, even if it's not really Biden's fault. Smart voters would still do anything to save this country from Trump no matter what... but voters that smart aren't plentiful enough.

8. "Likely to win"?
Tue Nov 14, 2023, 09:28 AM

If that is true, and I would agree with that assessment, then this is an emergency situation for every citizen in the USA and every person on the globe.

I do not understand what we don't have anti-Trump pro-democracy marches in every city, every, culminating in a million person march to Washington during the run-up to the election.

Wish I was younger with the energy to make it happen.

3. When feeling depressed...remember these things

The Dems are over performing…not my words, but many of the pundits responding to the fact that they are! This last election was once again a blowout
In that election as others at all levels, the youth vote is turning out enmass.
Don’t look at the polls. Despite several here supporting them they really have not proven correct, some not even close
The media, despite recent networks calling out tfg for his craziness, they will continue to do their best to make it a horse race…ratings, that all they care about

4. We need to stress this message...."Democrats are for DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM, and the RULE of LAW""

"Republicans ARE NOT!"

Democrats continue to stress what they are for. The scene for 2024 is all about whether or not we remain a country where people have the right to vote, earn a living, choose when to become parents if at all, read books that encourage debate and critical thinking, treat citizens and immigrants with dignity, uphold the Rule of Law and the US Constitution, and more.

This election is about what country we want to be. Joe Biden is doing all he can toget that message out. We need to step up and help him all we can.

6. I'm concerned

Mostly because I see so many 20 and 30 somethings who say they won't vote for Biden because he's supporting Israel right now. If a sizeable percentage really do go 3rd party out of protest, Biden is in serious trouble. The war in Gaza has really thrown a wrench in the whole election.

Still, Democrats overall have generally been overperforming the last three or so election cycles.

10. We need to remember,

Americans are known to have short attention spans. There will be many more incidents happening, that we won't remember what happened a year ago.

Don’t grab your tablet while you’re drinking your covfefe, don’t listen to npr or watch any tv.

Life goes on without your minute attention to detail that’s gobsmacking your attitude right now. When it comes right down to it what is really needed from every one of us is going to take less than 15 minutes of our time one day in October or November next year. Beyond that I doubt most of us are in a position to influence anyone by worrying, haranguing, or arguing.

Just set as good an example as you can by living peacefully and helping your neighbors when you can, that way if anyone asks you how you keep it together in such tempestuous times, you can just respond “Well, I’m ridin’ with Biden, and things are going to work out”.

The media benefits from your discomfort. Unplug.

13. Thank you for commiserating with me

And giving me food for thought.

I especially like the point that life goes on without me paying attention to every single political detail.

Also, that we need to fight! And I LOVE the idea of marching! This is bigger than any March there ever was!
