Gaza reports more than 11,100 killed. That's one out of every 200 people.

They include doctors, journalists, professors and poets.

More than 11,100 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Oct. 7, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. While there is no breakdown between fighters and civilians, most of the dead are women and children.

In just a little over a month of war, that amounts to over 0.5 percent of Gaza’s more than 2 million people.

Do we know?

What we know is this war is under hamas' control. They can stop it. They can limit civilian death, but choose to maximize them.

They are responsible, yet they do the headcount.

They are not suing for peace.

Hamas wants this war. They want these casualties. They want these refugees.

Hamas wants these deaths.

If Israel backs off. Hamas will attack somewhere else even more horrifically to provoke them.

Those are their words.

And if you surrender you will also die.

But that wasn't the point. You said "What we know is this war is under hamas' control. ". That statement removes all agency from Israel. So again, the IDF is under the control of Hamas?

Either win, lose, or surrender. Maybe a fourth option is stalemate.

But surrender or die is pretty much how war is waged while both sides are intent on winning.

And hamas is still in the mode of attacking. They are still on the path to exterminate. They don't support any coexistence. There is no peace in their plan.

Those are their words. Not Palestinian words. Hamas words.

It is even an option on the front lines in Ukraine, where ukranian soldiers literally risk their lives accepting surrendering russian soldiers.

Hamas just chooses not to surrender. Whether it is a martyr thing or blocking units I don't know, but they aren't surrendering. Yet, they can.

This is leading to a crescendo. The intention is ethnic cleansing, to make civilian life impossible.

Other countries have not agreed to take them, and Palestinians know that if they leave, Israel will never allow them to occupy their lands again. This war has gone beyond vengeance and is now ethnic cleansing.

their response would be felt for generations. I'm sure that is true now because they've killed so many civilians they've pretty much traumatized the entire population.
