of the big prostitution ring bust? Supposedly all kinds of big high power people involved and now we hear crickets. Sounds sort of like...............every time before?

You may hear about it, but magically the infraction (s) seems to fly away on the wings of a dove.

(5,107 posts)STDs, I'd say just legalize this already. In Germany, prostitutes are registered, licensed, tested for STD/s regularly and protected by law enforcement against violence like any other citizen. Must we be such prudes and fools to think that archaic laws will eradicate the world's oldest profession?

(96,882 posts)...and how the DOJ hasn't shared its evidence with the media, and won't until the arraignment?

(9,149 posts)about the silence when compared to anything else. Corruption indictments? Never ending wall to wall coverage from the moment it's uncovered all the way through the trial. No end to the breathless speculation and digging by the "journalists". Same goes for anything else. Except when it's about the big shots and prostitutes.

(64,569 posts)The affidavit notes that through surveillance, interviews, and other methods, federal agents were able to identify multiple customers of the alleged brothels, spanning a wide array of different professional disciplines, including not just politicians and military or government personnel but tech and pharmaceutical executives, professors, lawyers, doctors, and scientists. According to the DHS agent who authored the affidavit, there are potentially hundreds of customers yet to be identified, and our investigation into their involvement in prostitution is active and ongoing. Joshua Levy, acting U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, also emphasized in a Wednesday press conference in Boston that the investigation was far from over.

(9,149 posts)the endless 24/7 speculation/opinions/analysis by the media is absent compared to other supposed "scandals". Like in the past DOJ investigating and prosecuting is one thing but the public scrutiny and disclosure is another and I felt from the beginning when they announced it cut across nearly every industry/profession that big media people are also likely involved and so the coverage will be especially low key if at all.

(6,159 posts)I expected to see reporters and pundits.
Which would go a long way towards explaining the lack of coverage.
But honestly, I would rather it just be legal if all adults were consenting in the transaction.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
