(276 posts)I remember 30 or so years ago (maybe on SNL?), where each congress-critter had to wear a nascar-style jacket with all their donors on it. We really need to have that as a lot of these smiling, glad-handing, big promise folks have many strings attached to them that will ensure that We the People never, ever are truly represented.
Question: Am I misinterpreting? Is this just retail sales? Are big fossil fuel, big pharma, insurance, finance, arms dealers, and such not listed?

(36,631 posts)What is required is "significant and durable market power" -- if you can do pretty much as you please without worrying about the actions of competitors, then you don't really have competition.
The danger of a monopoly is that it can use its power in one market segment to inject itself into another and swallow that, too.
