Her ailing grandmother died at home at 96. Her grandpa told them he was going with her, lay down hugged her and in less than two hours died of old age, several health issues and heartbreak. They were taken to the morgue together and buried together.

my grandfather developed cancer that he never told anyone about. Never got treatment and passed away less than 6 months after she did. He was 90 and was just ready to go after she was gone.

He was a solid liberal (he did not know it) Republican. He had never voted for a Democrat in his entire life. He got his absentee ballot all filled out but he told me not to mail it in. He told me to call my doctor friend and have him set up a checkup at the hospital.

I call the doc and about 20 minutes later an ambulance wheeled into the driveway. Surprised me, We all packed up some stuff of my dead. Me, the EMT's and my doc. The doc left his clinic for a bit to come by.

On Oct 31,1992 my dad told me not to mail in the Ballot and that he was voting for Bill as something needs to be done about the medical system. He died in his sleep later that night.

He did not want me to submit a ballot for a dead person as the Dixiecrats had done in Arkansas for decades.

but mom died in 88 of Alzheimers (no one knew what it was back then) about a month before their 50th anniversary. I am just glad that mom was out of it when her beloved PTL club went under. I remember they called to ask for a donation when I was leaving for the funeral. They could not understand NO MORE MONEY, she is dead!!

When those people are reborn, their karma is going to put them at dung beetle stage.

People are so trusting

Dad died eleven years before mum - she had a blast visiting kids and grandkids. It was so neat that she died in New York since my oldest sibling was born there quite by accident. She went into labor as they were on the way home from England in 1945.

My grandmother was very sick with cancer. When they moved her to hospice, my grandfather (who had pretty bad dementia - she did too) said, "This is a dying place, isn't it? I don't need to worry about taking care of Mary anymore."
That night he went downhill incredibly fast and died the next morning.
When we went to tell her that he had passed, she said the same thing, "I don't need to worry about taking care of him."
She died the next day.

Talk about a former president who thought of nothing else but to grab his carpenter tools, and go to work. What a wonderful couple. This is what presidential material is truly meant to be.

Hospice does not necessarily mean institutional care or immediate death.

I have friends who were in and out of hospice for years, mostly at home, before eventually dying.

ETA - the formal statement says she is at home.

Salt of the earth. Hard working, loving people who give back more than they take. You don't find these kinds of folks much any more. My best to the whole family.

... to everything there is a season.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
King James Version

3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
