Back in the 60s, the old boys figured out how to make rockets work with slide-rules and pencils. The big advantage of this rocket over the vintage Saturn V is that it is "resuable." I will say, it is going to take a lot of effort to gather up all of those tiny pieces, scattered over half an ocean, to put Musk's bird back together again in order to reuse it..
What Musk has proved is that he can blow up something other than twitter.
