Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without

This used to be a depression era slogan but now it's a 'The planet is dying! Stop buying anything new unless you actually NEED it' slogan.

Each year, we use all the earth can replenish in a little over 8 months.

I use TEMU. I also use Walmart. (Which I never thought I would do). I haven’t worked in two years, due to an accident where someone rear ended me.

I don’t shop like a billionaire, or even a millionaire. I shop like someone who is broke and neds something like sponges for my dishes. I don’t go out and buy a BMW. I don’t buy an outfit in every color offered, or even in one color.

If I am buying something, I either need it or I am hired to buy something. (I am a mystery shopper) No one on that thread made it seem they are buying new stuff everyday. Not as far as I read, but I did read your comment about shopping like we are billionaires. So, buying a 12 pack of sponges is shopping like I am a millionaire? Move over Bill Gates. I think YTD I may have spent $10 at TEMU.

The OP said TEMU was a scam. A few people replied to that and said they bought from TEMU and have never had a problem. No one said they place orders daily or even weekly. No one boasted they spent thousands of dollars there.

Not sure why you are upset enough about poor people trying to afford stuff they need, that you did this post.

Maybe you are feeling the stress of the holiday season. If so, I hope your stress dissipates quickly. Whatever has caused you this must anger, I hope it goes away and you only feel happiness.

Take care, and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

What causes this anger that I am disgusted by companies that seem to be actively trying to make things worse climate wise and imo they should not be in business

And then there's the undeniable fact that those low, low prices are made possible by exploitation.

Thanks and hope you have a happy thanksgiving too.

It is us who will die. We are just insects with a brain that is too big for our own good.

The planet will indeed exist, with or without carbon-based life forms. It may be a hellscape where no current life form can survive, but the earth will still be here.

It's gonna take a lot more than us to change that.

I had a pair of Croc flipflops I've had for 3 years break on me. I'm weighing trying to fix them before buying a new pair.

I've had friends convince me I should replace the television I bought in 2007 with a newer model though this one works fine, pretty much.

Earth will be a flaming ball and I'll still be washing out first-use paper towels.

I think we're the REAL conservatives and not the merchandise worshipping morons goose-stepping to the beat of capitalism.
