(1,229 posts)Many thanks for gathering and sharing these memes and things, ItsjustMe.
I always find something to think about, to laugh about, and to either cry or pray or get noisy about.
The Carters building with Habitat for Humanity ended todays selection on a high note, a booster of hope amidst the turmoil. Talk about leading by example. We cant repair the whole world on our own, but we can make a difference wherever we find ourselves. We can work together to manifest a more progressive, inclusive, educated, caring, democratic society. Thats what filled my heart and mind as I looked to the helpers in the last photo.
Ill carry that spark all day.

(4,292 posts)Yeah, I know that doesn't match the movie title, but -- as my father (retired Army Major) used to say -- "he couldn't even make it as a decent pimple on a PFC's butt!"
Thanks for sharing these every day!

(6,849 posts)If that is true, and it's not a bad thing, it's a complex thing. Then why can't we learn the correct usage of the simple words, then and than? Is it acceptable to misuse them? Is it because we don't understand the difference, don't know any better? Is it because autocorrect doesn't differentiate them because the ignoramus that programed autocorrect doesn't even know there is a difference?
Petty thing, right? Except, on a very sublime level and in a very profound way, it's not. We're in a great political struggle to prevent a return to the dark ages. Okay. So, what do we gain if we stop Trump but give civilization over to easily reparable manifestations of unchecked ignorance? It wouldn't be too far-fetched to imagine the top 0.01% considering themselves worthy of their status merely because the other 99.99% are, in their minds, too stupid to merit nice things. The barbarians at the gates don't need assistance.
