(2,274 posts)halftime show, not bad at all. Not a country music fan but ...... how can anyone NOT like Dolly?

(6,424 posts)Stuart Baker, AKA Unknown Hinson, had some sort of mental break, mistook real life for the role he played on a cartoon, and screwed himself hard. Quote below mildly edited by me to alter one slur and clean up footnote markers.

The producers of Squidbillies fired Baker from the series over his remarks. Reverend Guitars of Ohio abruptly stopped marketing their Stuart Baker signature series guitars on August 14, 2020, and posted, "we are no longer associated with Unknown Hinson. We have stopped production on his guitars and we have removed him from our website."

(2,010 posts)I heard her being interviewed on NPR last week, as the album was being released. She said if she was going to be in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame she she should do a rock album. She collaborated with many other "rockstars" on well known songs, and some of the songs she wrote just for the album. She said her husband is really into rock, not a fan of country.
I agree with you, I'm not into country music, and Dolly is a force of nature!
I've heard a few songs from this new album, and she rocks!

(30,264 posts)She sang a Queen tune, and said she loved Freddie Mercury. I'd like to hear the new album.
I have loved this woman since I first saw her as a kid on the Porter Wagner show. My Mom always watched it. I thought--she's beautiful, and she sings like an angel.

(9,937 posts)She sat on a stool with a plain background. She was in jeans and a shirt not flash. She did have big hair but we all did then. She sang a song about her dog which was the first one she wrote. She had a guitar for music. I was impressed.

(14,266 posts)with a lot of talent and her head screwed on right.
The only thing anyone could pick about is her neck. Her plastic surgeon could've taken care of that too.
She beautiful inside & out!

(17,925 posts)like that. Dont nitpick.

(14,509 posts)But since Ive never had a plastic surgeon take care of my neck or any wrinkles, I know I dont look as young as Dolly. I have a feeling if she wasnt a celebrity, she wouldnt really care and would encourage women to just be themselves, with or without makeup or grease paint or pigtails or wigs or long skirts or short shorts.

(4,607 posts)...I do NOT like the idea of celebrities thinking they can govern or of voters just supporting them just because they like them. That's how we ended up with DJT. Governing is a SKILL and so is being a politician and both aspects of the job need to be treated that way. (This is why I do not support term limits) Having strong opinions, or a strong moral character, or a mouth that flap 190 mph (looking at you MTG and GYM) doesn't necessarily qualify one for the job. A strong moral character is important, but it won't be very helpful in a Congress that is deadlocked, for example. And if you can't get elected, how much governing is the candidate with good moral character going to be able to accomplish even if they have the other skills?
When we don't treat the office of the Presidency and other reps in the government with the respect that specific skill set deserves, we set our nation up for the three-ring circus we had during the DJT years and in our current Congress.

(11,275 posts)Cares more about others than herself. Our country took a nose dive after Obama. May not recover. The Bidens are great. But the Pandora's Box of racism and hate is festering out in the open. Driven by unlimited money.
