... The Washington Post has reported that Melania Trump has been invited to the service for Rosalynn Carter in Plains, Georgia, next Wednesday. Rosalynn Carter died at her home in Plains, Georgia, Sunday at the age of 96, two days after she entered hospice care. Jimmy Carter, her husband of 77 years, was by her side, the Washington Post said.
As the Carter family is preparing for Rosalynn Carters funeral, they are keeping in mind that she was a member of a unique group of women: presidential first ladies. All first ladies have been invited to the service, the Washington Post said. This means the world could see Melania Trump at the same event as Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton.
Perhaps all five women could sit together in the same pew at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, though Jill Biden may sit with her husband, Joe Biden, who also has been invited ...
It would be monumental to see Melania Trump sitting near Jill Biden. The former model notoriously broke a nearly 70-year tradition and didnt invite Jill Biden, as the incoming first lady, to a tea and tour of the White House after her husband defeated Trump in the 2020 election ...

Actually, its worthy counsel to us all. That its not about YOU. Its not about ourselves. Its about the greater good. To be all about service to others. To be humble and helpful. Its about The Work. Be a Rosalynn sounds like a reminder to stay loyal, loving, supportive, magnificent, towering, charitable, kind, honorable, generous, and selfless. Be an example to others about all thats good.
Be a Rosalynn.

a giant orange shitstain smear whenever I look at an American Flag these days, but that doesn't mean we didn't let it happen. That's a shitstain we all have to bare.
It's part of our shameful history now, just like slavery, Jim Crow and the current Confederate America Supreme Court majority. The Confederate philosophy of Christo-fascism may have lost the Civil War, but at least they won the Supreme Court.
Does it suck that Donnie Dipshit was ever President? Sure, but our "friends", family members, co-workers, neighbors and fellow parishioners voted to make that happen.
The Carter family are better people than I will ever be, but I'm trying.....

(53,206 posts)She never wanted to be First Lady and appeared to hate being in the White House. I'm sure she'll find an excuse to decline the invitation - getting her nails done that day or maybe a Botox treatment. I'm sure she was counting the days for all four years until she could finally be free and I'll bet she voted for Biden!
I read (in one of the "behind the scenes at the Trump Campaign/White House" books - no idea which one) that Melania was very upset on election night when it became clear that he had won. I find that 100% believable, considering that the whole time he was potus she acted like like she would have rather been doing just about anything other than cosplaying First Lady.

(5,455 posts)a character flaw. The flaw is being a porn model - in my personal view. Describing the sexual orientation of someone is not calling it a "flaw." It was describing her online photos.
Besides, I am not aware of there being a DU list of character flaws.

(1,410 posts)People can disagree with the Carter's beliefs on subjects. What they can't do is claim that they EVER (through their entire lives) didn't do what they believe is the correct and moral thing to do.
And "claim" is put in quotes for one specific reason. I do see some broad brushed Christian bashing here.
Full disclosure, I am not a self described Christian, but I have some friends that are Christians in the Carter mode. Great people, they walk the talk, far from judgmental. Are they in the minority of Christians I know, YES! But I sure as hell am not going to condemn people who live by the teaching of the Beatitudes, teach their children the same and are not very judgmental.
As a side note; during W's second term I spent a night during W's second term putting a spreadsheet together ranking all Presidents since Kennedy on the Economy. Basically took 14 or 15 key financial indicators (job growth, unemployment rates, stock market growth, deficit, etc.) equal rating on all of the metrics. Graded on a curve, and Carter came in last among Dems, but was a C overall because Repukes filled the lower positions. Barely above him was Reagan.
I guarantee you if the same exercise was run today, Carter would still be a C. Only due to Biden taking the top spot and Obama being in the top three of four, with tRUMP taking the solid F spot.

(1,410 posts)And I am not a religious person but try to be a good person.
The point I was trying to make, there are religious people that are good, moral souls.
The Carter's being exhibit A.
We shouldn't critique (broad brush was the post I recall) people due to their religious beliefs, IF!!!!, they use their religious beliefs to try to make their corner of the World a better place.
My lifetime of experiences has shown be there are many people who claim to be religious, but in reality, they are complete immoral assholes. And these people aren't just Christians, they are a part of every religion.
All of us have also seen atrocities done under the cover of religion that are highly immoral.
Push comes to shove, I would claim we are all living in Heaven now, this beautiful planet (except for Texas, I KID, partially) was some how gifted to us to build upon, make better.
So if a person professes to be a Christian AND shows the aptitude to make this place better, I have zero issues calling that person a Brother or Sister.
The majority of 'Good People' I have encountered are not religious. BUT, there are good religious people.
Does that help?
Edit to add: I am not in the league with the Carters. If they are playing in the Major Leagues, I am playing Single A in Salinas.
