(25,065 posts)A court filing details alleged threats by a Tuolumne County school board member to kill children and other people. Jason Vassar, 50, claimed to be the messiah and made racist and anti-government statements in documents reported Tuesday by the Union Democrat newspaper. Vassar serves on the Belleview Elementary School District board. It oversees a single campus for preschool through eighth grade about six miles west of Twain Harte. Vassar continues to be detained for a mental evaluation, the Tuolumne County Sheriffs Office said. The district has begun the process for removing him from the board.

From the Modesto Bee: (He is detained for mental health evaluation)
--snip--
Portillo and another administrator met with Vassar on Oct. 30 to discuss his mental health, along with school board matters. After leaving, he sent them emails with a total of 93 pages of comments, some of them profane. The topics included COVID-19 in schools, the Antichrist and other biblical references, and complaints about communists and socialists. I was kind of shocked to read in Revelations that I was going to be executioner for God and kill your children, Vassar allegedly wrote. He also is accused of leaving a threatening voicemail with an administrator after being served with the restraining order. It required him to stay at least 1,000 feet away from the Belleview campus, students and employees. The same applied to the office of the county superintendent of schools, which provides various services to districts.

(37,568 posts)Had boss that said that his calling was to be "Lord High Executioner., and he'd thought that since entering college. And looked forward to maybe having the job "in the kingdom." He was in his early 50s at the time. Note that "the kingdom" hadn't occurred during his life, so the job never actually materialized.
Note that he died in his late 80s, more than 30 years later his rather surprising comment that gave pause, with nobody ever accusing him of so much as slapping his wife or kids, much less murder.
Now, his kids had more fear and less love for him when I knew him than seemed good, but that was true of my wife's family. But in the end, they accepted an uneasy stalemate with him and their mother, and family loyalty won out over fear. Not sure about "love". Same for my wife's family.
From where I stood, his kids were more hateful and manipulative than the wannabe "Lord High Executioner" ever was--not that he was pleasant, but his extreme unpleasantness me-ward was due to *their* weaponizing his attitude.
The LHE executioner was quickly absolved, offense at him was like being offended at the knife that cut off my finger tip as I quickly sliced carrots. Much harder forgiving his three kids. Much harder.
My father-in-law's family turned out to be much like the LHE's family, but posthumously. Sadly.
