(1,560 posts)But how about starting with cutting off all foreign military aid to EVERY country on Earth? We know damn well what those weapons are used for. So if this shit is going to happen, let it at least not happen with our help.

(89 posts)But we both know that'll never happen.

(798 posts)Not te be a party pooper, but after quite some 'misguiding propaganda' by Hamas, I tend to get sceptical.

(312 posts)First of all, can you share the information you have that this BBC photographer is part of Hamas? Or that he is lying about his son being in that blanket?
Do you think the BBC is so stupid so as to report that this was in fact this man's baby? Did Hamas fool this man's employer? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-20340810

(798 posts)I never saw the link, sorry. Here we have protests every other week, loads of propaganda from both sides being unloaded. Just the same day a clip was shown in which a man was hauled away as if deadly wounded, only to see him lounging around a couple of minutes later.
You're obviously right about this story.

(31,182 posts)How did he express concern for Palestine?
Is he some kind of undesirable who burrowed into DU for the last five years?
BTW, skeptical is spelled with a c in the UK.
Great to know you care. You could have replied with 'click the damn link, stupid'. I would have liked that better.
Oh. Dead give away? To me being what, excactly?

(10,833 posts)It's been going on for a couple of thousand years. There are temples built upon mosques upon temples and generations dating back to antiquity on both sides have treated each other similarly.
I have no answer for it but it is clear to me that only those directly involved can solve the problem. All we can do is try to foster a mutual respect between them and try to get them to the table. But in the end we cannot undo what they are unwilling to change after millenias of hostility.

(10,833 posts)Instead of periodic random killing on both sides, tragic to say the least, we would have wholesale genocide. I for one could not live with that on my conscience.

(45,851 posts)There's no way to be sure.
I've come a long way myself, I used to be 110% pro Israel and then I started reading and looking into the actual history of the conflict and found out it's nowhere near as simple as I once thought.
Jersey Devil
(10,833 posts)It's a historical novel as are most of his books but the historical part is accurate and depicts the history of the area going back to its geological formation. I think it is a must read for anyone trying to understand the conflict.

(14,180 posts)Update at noon ET. Israeli Official Says Most Of Those Killed In Gaza "Deserved It":
On WNYC's The Takeaway today, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said that "if you compare the situation in Gaza, let's say, to the situation in Syria today, where the Assad regime just mercilessly butchers people and children, there is a big difference. I would say that most of the people that were hit in Gaza deserved it, as they were just armed terrorists."
