"SNIP..........
Donald Trump said on Truth Social he is seriously looking at alternatives to the Affordable Care Act if he returns to the White House
Said Trump: We had a couple of Republican Senators who campaigned for 6 years against it, and then raised their hands not to terminate it. It was a low point for the Republican Party, but we should never give up!

Still waiting for the release of that "proof" that the 2020 election was "stolen"---
Yeah, it was "stolen" all right--- by people who exercised their right to VOTE!
(Trump and the MAGAts think that many of those people should HAVE no right to vote--
that is why they consider the election "stolen", with no proof of any actual voter fraud--
except for the handful of MAGAts who cast extra votes, or cast votes on behalf of their dead relatives...)

(12,977 posts)the AHCA and the BCRA. Problem: they were awful
This Wikipedia articles covers both the AHCA (American Health Care Act) and the BCRA (Better Care Reconciliation Act)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Health_Care_Act_of_2017
H.R. 1628, American Health Care Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 5/24/17
https://www.cbo.gov/publication/52752
would increase the number of people who are uninsured by 23 million in 2026 relative to current law.
H.R. 1628, Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 6/26/17
https://www.cbo.gov/publication/52849
A little bit better: leaving 22 million uninsured in 2026 relative to current law.
This is the one that Senator John McCain famously turned thumbs down on. Otherwise it would have become law.

Both can only be described as acts of American Genocide. We need to call the GOP the American Genocide Party.
And no, emergency rooms are not comprehensive health care -- they do just enough to stabilize you and then give you a fistful of prescriptions that you can't afford to fill, and a bunch of referrals to doctors and specialists that you can't afford to see if you are like most uninsured. And I'm not talking about some aberrant ones that have been in a news, wheeling someone out onto the sidewalk and leaving them there. No, no, no, I'm talking about ALL of them. ALL.

(3,040 posts)The ACA cost Dems big time in 2010.
Fast forward to TFGs tax cuts in 2017, and the ACA is more popular than the tax scam.
In 2018, Dems win the House, in part because of Obamacare.
In 2022 and 2023, Dems win many races because of Dobbs.
So, this thing took away healthcare for many women, made it harder for them to get healthcare and did a lot of damage to their health, and he wants to take healthcare away from 40 million people, which has saved lives?
How at all is this a winning platform?
