To me the most offensive thing is that she looks like she wants it known that she doesn't want to be there. Attending in a coat says "I have no intention to stay one moment longer than I am required to." It's what my sister did at my daughter's December wedding despite being in a crowded, perfectly warm church and then a crowded, perfectly warm reception hall.

My theory is that this outfit was chosen by committee. Maybe Trump's campaign didn't want her to wear black because it would seem she was aligned with the Carters and Democrats. So grey was chosen. Maybe the coat dress was to remind people of what she wore at Trump's inauguration. Maybe she didn't even try it on in advance. I can hear her saying who cares about the stoopid funeral...

For someone who was supposedly a genius-level fashion model (whatever that means) she has a knack for picking outfits that just don't look like they fit properly. Plus, she goes in for those cinched waists that don't look good on short-torsoed and large-breasted women - they make her look squeezed into the outfit. But you can believe they cost big $$$, not to mention the costs of the hairdressers and make-up artists who travel with her.

While I have zero sympathy for her, I imagine this was a challenging wardrobe decision. Her husband is very noisily running for president on a platform that casts Democrats as demons, basically. So just her going to the funeral presents challenges for his campaign. They must have decided it was better for her to go, but not wear black. Wearing black would align her too closely with the Carters and Democrats. So it was decided that she wear a tailored grey suit.

Meanly, I'm delighted that it wasn't very becoming on someone who cares only about her looks. Meow.

Probably not but the coat isn’t flattering.
I finds her repulsive and phony and I’m certain she wasn’t there to represent America, but her coat is the least of her problems. I wouldn’t trade my life for hers plus 10 billion $$. She already involved one innocent life in her scheme. Fortunately she didn’t need to give him more kids.

Melania? Who? Don't remember her.

Same for the thing she is married to, if they are still married.

Looking forward to the day when a thread like this gets zero replies.
May it be soon.

A middle-age debutant coat with belt to accentuate cleavage. It's long so it looks kind of frumpy.

Except that the shape of it calls attention to the weight gain. Tubby Hubby must not be happy about that.

And no, MAGAs, she's not a hero, and she is a colossal piece of shit for her "look at me" moment. This is a fucking state funeral. Show some damn respect, oh wait, I forgot, you're incapable of that.

113. The "they" that decided Melania should be invited was Rosalynn herself.

And it is pretty offensive to criticize Rosalynn Carter for making decisions about who should or shouldn't attend her funeral.

Because sex workers have no class? Is that the intended implication?

Sadly, far too many of them were clearly from the reichwing bubble. All about how wonderful and elegant and gracious malaria is, and how fantastic TRAITOR** is, and how evil and ugly everyone else in the frint row is. I gave up after about two dozen.

It's not like she is in deep mourning or anything like that.

Wearing anything OTHER than black to an important, solemn, and historic event like the funeral of a former First Lady, when everybody else was wearing black with MAYBE one or two exceptions far back in the pews toward the rear of the church - it's not like she didn't know or understand the gravity of the occasion. She just wanted to stand out. And I will remember, and resent her for that selfishness, as long as I draw breath. It's NOT like she didn't know or understand the protocol required of such a gathering that would be broadcast around the world, and involving individuals and personalities known across the globe.

As a former First Lady herself, it's ABSOLUTELY NOT like she didn't - or wouldn't - know or understand. She just had to stand out, and made sure it was REALLY obvious and impossible to miss.

Did your ego get enough of a boost that day, honey?
