2. Many Israelis hate Netanyahu as much as we hate Trump

and for many of the same reasons. And they have felt as powerless as we can feel.

....maybe we should start forming borderless, international, civilian alliances, to challenge any leaders anywhere when they go against the best interests of their constituents.

5. I respect President Biden's ability to walk the fine line between these two warring parties.

America has been a traditional ally of Israel, and that's not going to change, but the truth is that he is trying to do his best in light of the 75+ year blood feud that has been going on over there.
He's obtained a temporary cease fire, and an exchange of hostages...it's a start. I expect he will continue to pursue the diplomatic path to end this massacre.
Let's be realistic here. Israel isn't going to eliminate Hamas by military might. Each day of bombing of Gaza cities just acts as a recruitment video for Hamas. And, revenge can only be taken so far before it drags Israel down to the same level as Hamas.
There has to be a different way to get out of this mess. Unfortunately, both sides are unwilling to make the changes that might lead to a permanent, peaceful solution.
Right now it looks to me that we are decades away from any real solution. It could be another 75 years of warfare between Israel and the Palestinians. Hundreds of thousands dead, and millions of lives destroyed, not to mention the physical destruction!
The leadership of Hamas, and Israel both have to be replaced by people who are at least willing to try and end this.
But first, the fighting has to stop. There can't be any progress toward a solution while so many lives are being lost on a daily basis.

Let’s all bookmark this thread and reconvene in 8 months. A year ago, some were saying young people are the future. Young people will save the planet, etc. and so forth and so on…

Focus on the real threats to democracy (it ain’t the kids).

13. It IS an issue. In the last election, majorities of young people

and Muslims and Jews all voted for the Democrats. We won 7 million more votes but the margins in a few critical states were quite slim. So if we lose any of the groups that helped make our majority, we could lose the election even with a 5 million majority. Even with a 7 million majority -- we were way too close last time for comfort.
