Am I the only one who, after many months, has quit MSNBC's "Morning Joe" solely because of Joe Scarborough?
The other regulars on the show get to the point, explain the background of what's being discussed, and generally provide useful background and commentary. Scarborough, on the other hand, is all about "Uh, Uh, well, . . . " Watch the faces of the others on the show, especially Mika -- they seem to be waiting for him to STFU.
Willie Geist should have his own show.

(10,943 posts)... occasionally. I used to watch it every morning. They lose me with all the reruns and pre-taped footage. They aren't "Live" enough to be a news program. I think Willie has another show on the regular NBC? They should have Joy Reid host "Morning Joy"!

(102,793 posts)I don't watch it. He bloviates too much, others don't have much time to say anything because of it. Joe should have an opinion column and leave it at that.

(53,214 posts)while others sit there with strained looks on their faces tolerating him because it is his show. Occasionally he does make a good point, but then he runs it into the ground.
It reminds me of an abusive father where the wife and children all tiptoe around him, afraid to incur his wrath. There have been a few people who he took a disliking to and he bullied and taunted them mercilessly. I suspect he got them fired or they quit because of him. David Shuster is one person who comes to mind. There were quite a few others.
I've known overbearing, self-absorbed men like him and it makes it that much harder to watch him treat the people around him like dirt. I've lived it, I don't need to relive it every morning five days a week.

(102,793 posts)Relate to that.
Lived with it myself.

(53,214 posts)in their lives will recognize him immediately. He is a controlling bully. I am just surprised that he does nothing to disguise who and what he is on public television.
I am not a huge fan of Mika, but when Joe is gone and she runs the show, everything goes so much more smoothly. She is very disciplined and professional.

(2,174 posts)Watching Mika, the regular panel members, and guests sit with frozen expressions of feigned interest and patience is painful. We still tune in because of the others, and even for the occasional satisfaction of hearing JS attack his former party and *Rump about the latest outrage. If more Democrats engaged in bare-knuckled verbiage, I wouldnt feel the need to ever hear it from JS. On the other hand, when he refuses to allow anyone else to speak, we hit the mute button until his lips stop moving. Sigh. . .

(14,443 posts)I like both the guests and the regulars, and I dont mind Joe, especially when he is pointing out step by step the idiocy of Trump and the new Trump party. I think he is a valuable arrow in our quiver against the enemy. Argument regarding his past behavior when Trump ran the first time, its an old one. Joe accepts his own miscalculations and naivety regarding Trump and daily warns republicans to follow the facts. His style can irritate many listeners but his words are spot on.

(14,443 posts)seem to hate and discourage the watching of a program that daily reveals and stresses the lies and the corruption of Trump. Are they afraid that some MAGA viewers might start to see the light?

(141,926 posts)Lots of opinions here. I remember seeing ### criticism of Mika, which I found offensive.

(68,201 posts)became obvious that something was going on between the two of them. He was already separated from his first wife but she was still married to her then husband. Then she gets rid of first hubby and goes on the show with a really big diamond engagement ring from Joe and guests on the show started congratulating them on their engagement. I thought that was a bit much...

(55,137 posts)Joe thinks he is a stellar politician, always right about everything and a rambling ego to boot. He loves to talk and talk and talk when he never has anything to say. White noise. Snooze.

(82 posts)Joe and Mika had Trump on too much when he was first running for President. They gave him so much attention and bashed Hilary, making light of his foolishness thinking he could not win but could increase their ratings. I listen to music and read until my husband wakes up. Then we start our day.

(18,620 posts)When Joe goes off on one of his interminable rants, or whenever he interrupts someone else's thoughts mid-sentence, everyone on the panel immediately knows they have to shut up.

(1,181 posts)Do not understand the need for the expanded format.
It seems that they repeat a lot of content if one wanted to watch four straight hours.

(28,836 posts)Repetition is pretty much the norm in a show like this and is by design. The idea is that different people will see different time segments as they get ready for work or whatever.

(114 posts)The last time I watched Joe, there was a guest on and she explained in depth her research on a subject. Her research was well done, pertinent and her explanation clear. The panelists nodded in agreement and had the appearance of actual pleasure. Joe started in and paraphrased back to her what she just said like she needed it explained. Joe Scarborough is a manplainer and quite dismissive of women.
Just one man's view.

(14,443 posts)Its almost as if some DU posters dont want negative things about Trump being said out there on a popular morning show because they dont like Scarboroughs personality.
Boohoohoo. Keep telling it like it is Joe.
