Santita Jackson promoting "Step Aside Joe" on her talk show this morning.

To her credit, she had one guest who didn't sidestep the issue. The claim was made by one of her guests, a local Reverend from Rainbow Push, that Biden would be fine if he would just "prove himself to be a leader." But, he already has.

What these people are pushing is that their agenda isn't being addressed, not true, but they aren't seeing the results they want. Of course, there is no way a lot of what they want would every get through Congress, so they're making this noise. Jackson is pushing Cornell West and RFK, Jr., apologetically claiming that no, she doesn't want to cause Trump to be re-elected. But that will be the result if they keep pushing.

The guest from Step Aside Joe, an organization with a website, made bogus claims, continued to assert his point, sidestepped the question about a fracturing Democratic party allowing Trump to be elected and the fact that if he is, they are the first people he will come after. Callers were not taken this morning, so he was allowed to push his view without his inaccuracies and claims being challenged.

Biden has proven himself to be the leader we need. Yeah, I know they don't like his current foreign policy as far as Israel and Hamas are concerned, but they want to ignore October 7th, and that can't be done.

As far as "Step Aside Joe" goes, and their spokesperson, as I listened to him repeat catch phrases and slogans, I wondered where they are getting their money from, Russia, or Trump?

have no idea how the Government works.

They have no idea about Advize and Consent and the fact that the President does not MAKE LAW.
Without Congress, their wish list goes up in smoke.

My niece, who is educated and has a good job, owns her own home... etc...confronted me at Thanksgiving to protest that the Reversal of ROE happened under Biden. She had NO idea that the decision was from the Supreme Court and NOT Joe Biden. Nor did she understand that TRump packed the court with right-wing ideologues.

I think that a lot of young people (Under forty) have ZERO idea how any of this works and think that the President has some sort of magic wand.

Not your niece, obviously, but these pundits have a pretty clear agenda; blame the “Democrats” for everything bad that happens, ignore the good being done, and definitely pay no attention to the threat tRump and his complient GOP pose to American democracy.

Wasn’t there a thread here the other day where they were blaming Joe Biden for something terrible that tRump did? The classic abusers “look at what you made me do” argument.

And the low info mushy middle voters eat it up, especially since lies on Facebook seems to have replaced critical thinking for many people.

or was she just jabbing at the 'lefty aunt'? In any case - I find it hard to imagine somebody that really cared about an issue (abortion rights) - to be so singularly misinformed. And your claim to a good education ... Can I perhaps disagree there as well?

A lot of them seem to ascribe to the philosophy that if only Biden, Obama, et. al would just say the right words or just push their agenda "more aggressively" somehow then maybe something would happen. They also think that its better for somebody to push stuff for a vote even if they know it's going to go down in flames.

Yes, getting things thru Congress may be impossible BUT big new program and policy proposals may excite voters and show how small the RFKs and Trump are in the policy realm. Propose a 10 year program to significantly reduce the debt, a major revamp of border and immigration policy, end corporate welfare, space colonies, etc.-- go big and stop with band aids and incrementalism at least as it is presented to the public. Without positive momentum from a decisive election we may be mired in this political dystopia for a long time until some cataclysmic disaster gets all united and focused against a common threat or problem.

We don't have anything even remotely close to Fox and that's part of our problem. And Fox can literally say and do anything they damn well please, and the GOP lemmings will eat that shit up. That's why the House has descended into such chaos is because we can't get anything done, because Fox won't allow it to happen.

If we want to make serious progress in this country, we have to vote every Fox News installed lackey out of the offices they were "elected" to, at every single level. There's nothing that hasn't been affected by Murdoch's minions. Everything from school boards to city councils to state governments to governors to senators and representatives. They're all compromised. It's the only way.

We want to solve ALL problems and that is great and admirable but by being so broad, we diffuse momentum and energy to the point of getting nowhere. Admittedly, we may have all the best ideas ever and little if anything will get thru this Congress. But that does not mean we cannot win more hearts and minds, and future votes, so that Dems can again be ascendant legislatively and then start implementing meaningful policy changes. I submit we are too broad and too timid in our proposals. Pick three things that have high public interest and support, come up with big, bold and long term policy proposals that address those. Don't talk band aids and duct tape. Then focus all public Dem and allied media discussions on talking points pushing those. Just those. I would submit-- balance the budget and significantly reduce debt in 10 years, deal more actively with the border and immigration, safeguard and strengthen SS and Medicare. We can't do it all and by going after it all, we are at best treading water. And we know what worse can look like...

The idea that he has to "prove himself" is ridiculous, and I called in this morning to say so, but of course, didn't get connected. He's already proved, as much as any President since LBJ, that he is capable and gets things done. Santita and those in her little group want all of this progressive stuff, like climate change legislation, and they have a very skewed view of Israel-Hamas, virtually ignoring October 7th, and blaming it all on Israel.

They also have a very unrealistic view of politics, thinking that any third party candidate, RFK Jr or West or No Labels, has even the remotest chance of winning. They are either deliberately or clueless Trump shills.

This whole "step aside Joe" reminds me of when an arch-conservative friend tried to convince me that "just walk away" was a "Democrat movement."

in fact, religion needs to take a dive into a volcano. Politics has to be practical, the bible of politics is the constitution which needs defining, not the trash bin. Both parts put faith in the gears to incite emotional reactions. Abortion is practical to save women, get serious Americans, stop falling for bait.

Biden knows what to do. From the vaccine rollout to the Middle East, he just knows cause in some form, he’s seen it all before. I don’t think I’ve seen such competence in the face of huge obstruction in my lifetime. Maybe Civil Rights but that was LBJ and a whole different world.
