Texas Woman Asks Court for an Emergency Abortion

Texas Woman Asks Court for an Emergency Abortion

Mark Joseph Stern
@mjs_DC

Texas won't let Kate Cox get an abortion even though her fetus has a fatal genetic anomaly and she is suffering agonizing, ongoing pain. She just sued in state court demanding the right to terminate the failed pregnancy immediately. https://reproductiverights.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Cox-v.-Texas-original-petition-FINAL.pdf

4. If it happened to their daughters, they would fly them out of state.

I suspect it happens much more frequently than many would believe.

Only they have the money to go out of state.

And rationalize it by claiming they aren't one of those women.

The GOP's lack of compassion and empathy is pretty remarkable, as is their ignorance, though complications of this nature are well-known, which means that their ignorance is entirely intentional.

5. I know 3 women who had Trisomy 18 pregnancies

When you lose one at birth, you tend to get to know a lot of pregnancy loss people.

One chose to continue her pregnancy, the other two terminated.

Each of them said they made the right decision for themselves.

All three (yeah, even 25 years later, I'm still in contact with a lot of those people, bonded through our various tragedies) are vehemently pro-choice, even the one who is a devout Catholic.

It's funny that these fuckers continue to think we're going to just lie down and let them kill us.

Medical decisions are no business of a legislature. The get the government out of our way crowd are using the power of government to please the tulips in their heads, without regard for its effect on citizens.

Cruelty to women does nothing to impede their eternal quest for power and money, it is just collateral damage.

12. Why should Texas start listening to ob/gyns NOW?
Tue Dec 5, 2023, 03:51 PM

How do these so-called "doctors" know for a fact that the precious baby Kate Cox is incubating won't be miracled out of her uterus by God? They don't! And did those "doctors" win their last election like Republicans in the Texas Legislature did? I think not. So why should the people who run the state start listening to "doctors" and other eggheads when they know best what every woman needs?

This is torture, plain and simple. Women (and a few men) are watching and taking notes for 2024.
