As she woos her partys wealthy donors, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is promoting a policy that sets her apart from her closest competitors for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination: A willingness to stake out positions on the politically fraught issue of overhauling the nations entitlement programs.
In a recent Haley endorsement, Emily Seidel a top official in the influential political network associated with billionaire Charles Koch praised the former UN ambassadors courage for advocating changes to an entitlement system that makes promises it cant keep.

We need a complete reevaluation of entitlements, Ken Langone, the billionaire co-founder of Home Depot who is weighing backing Haley, told CNN recently.
What the hell is a guy like me (doing) getting $3,500 a month from the government? Langone, whose net worth Forbes pegs at more than $7 billion, said of his monthly Social Security benefits. Thats outrageous. I shouldnt get a nickel.

(55,480 posts)A lot of things don't make sense. Subsidies needed for food, for example. So much money goes up the income stream that poor people can't make ends meet. Capitalism is an incentivized system. Yet the incentives largely accrue to the top of the system.

And btw, Social Security checks are EARNED BENEFITS that were deducted from recipients paychecks for decades. Again, EARNED BENEFITS that were deducted from recipients paychecks. Got it?
And we want that money back, as promised.
FYI: And haven't you heard, SS recipients are mostly older voters...YOUR VOTERS...get it?
Keep on alienating them. Please.

And if he doesn't want the $3500, he can give it away.

The entire nation should support all people on Social Security. Millions of people depend upon it in their old age.

SS will be just fine when the limit on earnings cap is raised or just eliminated.

(11 posts)Social security payments dont automatically kick in. You have to contact the SSA and request the payments to start. So this guy is only receiving those payments because he requested it. So the real question he should be asking is As a billionaire, why did I request these payments in the first place?
