Dennis Prager: "Albert Einstein was not a particularly bright man outside of science.
You know, in my time on this planet, Ive heard dumb things, Ive seen people of all backgrounds say different things, but Ive never in my years on the planet insinuate Einstein wasnt smart.
And *Florida* is using *PragerU* to teach kids in its school curriculum?
In case you were needing motivation to vote, their side winning leads to people like this crafting curriculums for schoolchildren.

I still fondly remember the Sorting Hat from the Harry Potter story. Turns out HE is kind of a Sorting Hat for me as to my assessment of the people around him and supporters around him. All in a negative context.

(4,584 posts)Einstein left school when he dropped out
of school at the age of 15 because he did poorly in French and history. In fact he flunked those 2 subjects.
Of course he excelled in math and science. He did go college and earn a doctorate degree.

Though the German-born prodigys parents were concerned when he didnt start speaking until the age of 2, he would go on to use his words (and his numbers) very wisely in the classroom. In fact, he graduated high school near the top of his class. So why do many biographers claim he was such a lousy pupil? There was a confusing change in the grading system at Aargau Cantonal School. (He finished high school at the Swiss academy after leaving his Munich school at age 15 with the help of a doctors note citing a nervous breakdown.) In the first semester, a 1 was the best possible grade, but in the second semester, the scale flipped and 1 became the lowest mark. Einstein earned ones in mathematics and physics in the first semester and sixes in the second.
He also failed his university entrance exam to the Swiss Federal Polytechnical Schoolthough historians note that Einstein took the exam two years earlier than most students, and was tested on Swiss history, something that the German secondary school he attended wouldnt have prepped him for. Still, his performance on the entrance examination for the engineering department was good enough that, had he stayed in Zurich rather than go to Aargau, the physics professor would have allowed him to audit his courses in spite of age, according to An Einstein Encyclopedia.

He is wrong about Einstein's pacifism and about pacifism. Einstein advocated developing the atom bomb knowing that it would kill many people. Einstein expected it would be used against German Nazis because he did not know they had stopped work on it due to German physicists intentionally downplaying chances of success. The letter was in 1939, before Japan had attacked.

When a CONservative has lost the Washington Examiner, they are truly lost. The Washington Examiner media bias has been analyze and is reich wing, a little on the extreme right side of "right wing".

(90,011 posts)That tells you something, right there.
I remember when he was on the local ABC affiliate in Los Angeles, and I listened to him like I sampled most of that AM stations talent since I worked at their FM sister station across the hall. It was the AMs audio that was heard all over the building, so you couldnt help but listen. And at the time I didnt get too riled up by him because he wasnt quite there yet. But as he blossomed into a flaming CON, I totally lost interest.

Einstein was also a violinist.
His interests were not limited to just science.
There are recordings of him on YouTube playing.
Also, I remember one picture of him at a Berlin synagogue with his violin.

(26,314 posts)We all have a variety of strengths and weaknesses.
Just because someone is a true genius in one area doesn't necessarily mean it crosses into all or even many other areas. Even somewhat related ones.
Maybe Bob Dylan might not be the guy to split the atom.
Maybe Ken Griffey never was going win that many dunk contests.
Maybe your doctor would struggle or flat out fail to rebuild your transmission.
Maybe your favorite author can't balance a checkbook without hiring an account.
Maybe Alexander would be lost organizing a kid's birthday party.
Albert may have indeed been a crap Geologist, a very poor submarine commander, or a comedy of errors in the kitchen, not out of the realm of possibility.
I'm sure in context it was more asinine than it appears because that is the way Prager rolls but on the surface this one of the least ridiculous things he has ever said.

(24,378 posts)Einstein used his time here to learn and share as much as possible. For instance:
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.
It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom
this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder
and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.
