(My heading)
With so many atrocities occurring in the world, I have wondered why in our little 'created' bit of the real world that focus has been telescopicaly focused on one event and one humanitarian crisis above all others.
Why hasn't this link from al Jazeera been shared here at least once in the months since Hamas made their murderous attack on Israel and Israel responded with absolute force. There are literally thousands dying in Sudan daily and millions are going without the basic needs in life. This is HUGE news. Waaay beyond anything that is happening in Gaza, but is strangely relegated to 'not as important' by some on the internet including pontiff's and politicians.
Maybe the images of starving children, women, and men dosen't have the ummf that people killed by bombs has. I dont really know, but the suffering is as great and the number is 30+ times larger.
Snip..
The war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has fractured the country and put at least 24 million people more than half the population in dire need of assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Truly a humanitarian nightmare pushed onto the back burner of conciousness that needs to be pushed out in the open.

Some of the deadliest conflicts are years long.

(58,067 posts)Makes you wonder doesn't it? Why the very heavy emphasis on only one place that people are dying. Don't the others matter?

(2,613 posts)on an axe wound. Saudi Arabia is but one country in the ME.
Other rich countries in the middle east and elsewhere could Help, but I dont see that happening soon.. The U.N. could pass another useless condemnation of the violence but that would do squat. Maybe UN peacekeepers...who am I kidding.
Realistically...what do you propose.
What would stop the waring factions from hating each other? Wanting control? Abusing power?
These people need food...medical supplies...drinkable water...
Too much focus elsewhere right now.

This is unintentionally or intentionally being forgotten. We as liberals cannot allow this to happen

(93,375 posts)the explanation that is given usually goes something like this
something something something zionist something something something jews something something something zionist something something something jews. This is the explanation given for why Gaza deserves more attention than Uighurs in China, Sudan, Syria , kurds and many other things.

(2,613 posts)genocide of its people. Thousands raped, almost 1 million forced to flee. Still multiple posts on Gaza daily.
I'll be posting about Myanmar tomorrow. Must get some rest.

(1,415 posts)for some people taking an aggrieved stance is easier than dealing with the inhumanity along the southern border in Texas or the assault on civil rights in Florida or the level of disinterest bordering on ennui for the state of inner city public schools.
Blame is easier than responsibility. Generally speaking, knee-jerk responses are not solutions.
