Voters in Ohio earlier this year overwhelmingly backed an amendment to enshrine abortion rights in their state's constitution, but Republicans in the state are plotting to thwart their wishes.
News 5 Cleveland reports that some Republicans in the Ohio state legislature are now going all-in on backing a total abortion ban that would only have exceptions to save a woman's life but not for women who were impregnated due to rape or incest.
At the center of the effort is anti-abortion advocate Austin Beigel, who is working with several anti-abortion Republicans on crafting the ban.
While talking with reporters, Beigel acknowledged that this bill would contradict the will of the voters but said that didn't matter because voters made an "immoral" choice last month.

(8,452 posts)Is just more evidence of word play fodder. None of those words really mean anything anymore. And when you combine them it's even more disjointed.
It is likely this man is a theocrat, hoping to tear down the wall separating church and state. Yet he calls himself "Constitutionalist". Then the Christian part. I trust he supports national health care, protests against the death penalty and is a pacifist concerning war? And the Conservative part? These days I have no fucking idea what that even means anymore, to me it just seems to me if you identify as that you are just an evil, hypocritical, intolerant scumbag.

(4,741 posts)Was there a good reason why you weren't in history class when the rest of us learned about something called the Crusades and the Reformation Wars?
christianity has been big on war for centuries now. History shows that if they're not conducting one themselves, or taking part in it in some form (See: Rwanda), then they have always gone out of their way to speak for one side or another in conflict after conflict. They're that way, even now.
As for national health care, where did any christians actually do anything about that before *SECULAR* government came up with the idea? christians only had over 1900 years to cough up a plan that would work for people in the countries they dominated. Instead, they gave the world moronic pray it away/lay hands on it nonsense. And then when science gave them no choice but to accept that reality worked better at healing people than christer hocus-pocus f*ckwittery, christians created hospitals that charged patients for services, when they could have done that national health care thing instead. But they didn't. They are in charge of most of the hospitals in this country...and they are the very ones fighting the hardest *not* to have national health care. Explain that one, if you dare.
So give me a bloody break with these ridiculous claims about what christians 'should' support, when they have never supported those things enough to, you know, actually do something worthwhile about them.

(2,749 posts)Glad you are a Christian. Now, let's see you walk the talk, and do what Jesus says to do, if you are to be Christian. You know, take care of the poor, the sick, the elderly, the immigrant. Judge not, the rich use their money to help the less fortunate. Do unto others. BTW, Austin, Jesus says you will go to hell if you do not..

(72 posts)that you are a Christian, then you probably aren't acting very Christ-like. I think many people use their religion as a way to avoid any accountability to take responsibility for their behavior - "It's ok, I'm a ________" I think the bible calls that using the lord's name in vain - not sure if there are similar things in other religious texts.

(4,741 posts)As I pointed out above, they say one thing, and do the opposite.
They bray about healing the sick...but they are among the very ones owning a big share of the multi-billion dollar hospital industry who are fighting nationalised health care the hardest.
They say they love peace not war, but a) they've conducted, taken part in and have lead the cheerleading for wars for centuries. Worse, b) their own demigod said that he hadn't come to bring peace, but to bring a sword and create divisiveness among the peoples, even amongst families. You were with him, or against him, and if you were against him, then he had nothing but violence and torture awaiting you. He said these things over and over again. And yet christians try to shuck and jive about what he 'really' meant, that those of us who point these things out are 'taking them out of context.'
What bloody wankfest nonsense is that? In what bloody context is it okay to brag about wanting divisiveness amongst people, and that you want to torture those who disagree with you--forever?
Am I the only one who read their book--all of it--and paid attention in history class?
