flammable.

Seriously though, it's certainly possible that will happen but I wouldn't bet on it. Especially if the SC takes the 14th amendment case and rules against. And especially, especially if the SC opines that Jan 06 was not in law an insurrection or if Trump was not the instigator.

Still, there will be celebration throughout the land and beyond if he drops out. I would personally view it as the best news in decades.

Whenever I see one of your "pellucidly clear" posts, I know I'm going to read something encouraging, and this was no exception.

Like you, I firmly believe Slobby is going down (where the goblins go, below, below, below). In particular, I believe the DC trial is going to start in March, like it's supposed to, and he's going to be convicted. When that happens, I think it will shake things up in ways we can't even imagine yet!

And have thought the same for a while. I know I'm half a world away and might as well be on the moon. But I sincerely believe that there are some principled (if terribly misguided) people in the GOP who will work to prevent him from becoming the nominee.

Trump is taking it for granted that he WILL be the GOP nominee. I think a lot of influential people don't want to see that happen.

That it looked like for a while. But rain!! This was in the very far north and they had a year's tropical rain in a few days. My sister wasn't affected - she's halfway down the queensland coast but that's nearly 1000 kms.

You've probably seen this but I just opened our local paper so see what's happening in Qld. and front page, 2 minutes ago "Trump disqualified to run for president in Colorado, state's Supreme Court Rules". I need to find out more from US sources, but this is great news.

What will the cultists do? Most are just angry, incapable fools but there might be some that create some chaos.

That said I can’t imagine them getting behind anyone else unless they think they’re his puppet. I’m hoping, perhaps foolishly, that prison interferes with that fantasy.

If they don't nominate him, there will be a pitched battle on the convention floor (which might happen anyway) after which his partisans will desert the party forever, taking most of their most faithful voting bloc, the fundagelicals, with them. It would be suicide for them to nominate somebody sane.

I honestly think the big money boys are hoping he'll be in prison by then but they're vastly overestimating the speed at which the wheels of justice creak along.

if the candidate is willing to risk being owned by Trump, the candidate will get a serious boost when Trump drops out and endorses.

A self pardon was questionable anyway. Plus he can't psychologically risk another electoral defeat.

Of course, Trump being Trump he won't just want pardons for fed indictments...he'll want money, favors, retribution against a whole bunch of people. Otherwise he blows the whistle. He'll count it as a win either way.

1 SCOTUS declines to hear and avoids the core issue - that 1/6/21 was an actual insurrection. Trump can't run in Colorado, but his status in the other 39 remains undefined.

2 Hear it and shoot it down, based on the losing procedural arguments. Without addressing the core issue.

I think option 1 will be the course this corrupt court will take.

This is one state and it’s for the primary. It doesn’t apply to the whole country.

And, honestly, as horrifying as it would be if he won the general, I think he’s the guy we beat. We want him on the ballot.

I don’t trust that we would win against Nikki Haley. DeSantis maybe, he’s so god damn unlikable.
Christie doesn’t have a shot in the primary but I think he would win the general.

This is a serious case of be careful what you wish for.

tRump dying is possible, Repukes doing the right thing, extremely unlikely.

They have had hundreds of options to jump off the Crazy Train, never have.
Highly likely Putin, and by default tRump, have extremely damaging intel on many Repukes.

Four years of his bullshit as president, five years in the public eye and he GAINED votes in 2020!

Might he lose some voted for J6? Maybe but likely not many, we need to realize, highly racist, highly ignorant Country.
