Giuliani Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Rudolph W. Giuliani filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, a day after a federal judge ordered him to start paying the $148 million in damages he owes to two former Georgia election workers for spreading lies that they had tried to steal the 2020 election from Donald J. Trump.

Mr. Giuliani also owes millions of dollars in legal fees as well as unpaid state and federal income taxes, according to the filing.

Of course he is filing so that he can protect his assets and avoid the penalty for his civil crime.

His attorneys knew he was a scumbag when they agreed to represent him. I know that everyone is entitled to the best defense possible. I completely respect that aspect of our legal system. That said, most people who are not rich, will get an overworked and underpowered public defender. Giuliani's attorneys, though not top notch, were at least personally dedicated to his defense and likely didn't have another couple hundred cases they were trying If they didn't get fees up front, then they fell for his and Trumps' scheme too.

The victims did NOTHING except get slandered by Giuliani, have their lives disrupted, received death threats, and now have to live their lives with the worry that some stupid asshole is going to harm them. They deserve all of the money that Giuliani has left.

I do not believe in debtor's prison, mainly because of the way it (like everything else) applies only to those without the resources to defend themselves. I wouldn't mind seeing the return of debtor's prisons but only for wealthy people who try to shirk their responsibilities when they harm others.

They are only a small pittance to a person as rich as drumpf.
