(33,424 posts)Our country does not have a good record with hostages. Remember Carter's Operation Eagle Claw in 1980 when we attempted to rescue the Iranian hostages? A complete failure with 8 troops dying in the attempt. Israel has the best record of any country in hostage rescue and I trust they will do what they can.

Navy seals going in along with the IDF will be devastating to Hamas. Our troops could also verify details of the operation.

Regional stability impacted
The daily exchanges of fire across the Blue Line risk triggering a broader escalation between Israel and Lebanon and affecting regional stability, it said, noting also the UN chiefs increasing worry about the spillover effects of continuing attacks by armed groups in Iraq and Syria, and attacks by the Houthi group in Yemen against vessels in the Red Sea, which have escalated in recent days.

Also - fighting now in West Bank & Israel dropping missiles in West Bank & settlers attacking Palestinians.
And - Ukraine & Russia both killing civilians - escalating big time.
This could turn into WW3.

Also, as Netanyahu has made it explicit that his objective is the extermination of Hamas, there is zero incentive for Hamas to release any hostages.
