servicer, that all my personal info was stolen. They got names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and social security numbers.
I got a letter from the government a while back that someone used my social security number to apply for a job.
I have no idea what to do.

(13,384 posts)my loan was bought out and a month later my info was stolen. I signed up for the service that checks your credit and other stuff but very upset. I can't change without spending a ton of money since interest rates have gone up.

I was a little surprised that a King would use a gmail account, but a thrifty king is a good king.

(2,799 posts)Someone attempted to file taxes (and failed) last year under our name... The secretary of state notified us and gave us an official letter...
From our accountant... the identity thieves have our SS#'s, income, employer, names, address.... all of it.. Fuckers... Account firm was like....whoopsie...
We had to file taxes by mail and got them submitted in May '23.... and included all the documentation we had re: the breach... We consulted with an IRS agent in person and had all of our ducks lined up... All was good, all was clear. We have a substantial refund coming back to us.... Our taxes and documents are still "in processing" and we've been told it can take up to 480 days since we submitted...
We were provided a measly 2 year free credit monitoring service and we've put some security layers on applying for credit.
Hope it doesn't get as complicated for you.
I've read that the inflation reduction act is supposed to help bring this 480 days to less than 120, but it hasn't been implemented... can't imagine what it would be like if the GOP got their IRS defund through.

(22,838 posts)And Mr Cooper has a reputation. Unfortunately not a good one...
They changed their name because some companies were refusing to do business with Nationstar. It seems the only change has been to the name.

(15,772 posts)Two companies I deal with let me know my information was taken in the Move It hack. My bp skyrocketed. I've done everything to protect that. They offered some bs credit monitoring. I already have 2 CM services. I just checked today. I called a lawyer, actually to complain. They were advertising a class action lawsuit and I'm pissed and feel like companies need to pay for stuff like this. Its so unfair.

(11,767 posts)Seems I have a letter from Mr. Cooper waiting for me too. I have credit monitoring already but will check it out.
We bought our home in 2016. My mortgage bounced around from UWM to Mr. Cooper to Roundpoint, back to UWM, back to Mr. Cooper and finally ended up with Freedom Mortgage for the last 18 months.

(7,270 posts)My adult child just received notice of a data security breach - from an ambulance company.
The ambulance ride occurred in 2013.
The company was sold in 2022.
The data was supposedly held for legal reasons
Why retain data from 11 years ago?
