in a mass shooting in Iowa, the same state where the party of "freedumb" is having a "townhall" tonight. It's on CNN.
Do you think anyone will ask these freaks about gun control? What they would have done to save this innocent sixth grader's life?
Or is that way too much to expect?

DeSantis spoke about Florida's mental health and school safety policies but declined to say if there was any federal policy change he'd back to address shootings.

Maybe theyll give schools money for a bulletproof hideaway in every classroom or something like that but heaven forbid we talk about a 17 year old who shot up the place. Wouldnt any parent feel better about their kids school if all the classrooms had a bulletproof closet they could hide in

(276 posts)The gunz cult/fetish is there for a reason - created by, and endlessly stoked and stroked by the weapons industry and fascist billionaires who want low-information, heavily-armed fanatics positioned between themselves and the small-d democratic Public as they scramble for the remainder of our Freedoms.
You might like to argue back against a bible-thumper or Amway salesperson, but I'd wager bigly that the average person would be much less likely to do so against a gun-humper, especially an open- or concealed-carry type who's packin'.
The only way out of this mess for the Voice of the People to be heard and acted upon, but there is a permanent short-circuit in place that will prevent that from being done anytime soon, what with regulatory capture, SCOTUS, gerrymandering, movies, video games, snuff videos on the news, and such, that serve to provide constant reinforcement for those in the cult and sexy and sensual appeals to those on the outside to slide on in and "be one of Us": The Strong, the Brave, the Protected!
The persistent demands of the vast majority of the U.S. Public, over many years, to stringently regulate the industry and gun ownership, is happily pissed upon by the REAL VOTERS.

(18,404 posts)I've read statements to that effect. Imo, one dead (or even injured) kid is too high a price, but of course they don't see it that way.

(23,040 posts)There will never be gun control here, at least not in the measure that those of us on the Left want to see it. The worshipers of the Second Amendment are never going to have a come to Jesus moment about guns, repenting and changing their minds.
If nothing was done after the massacre of young kids at Sandy Hook, nothing is going to be done.
So yes, the life of a six graders life is expecting too much when the slaughter of 20 first graders was not enough at Sandy Hook.

(11,531 posts)Did our Founders really envision people using their guns to kill who ever they wanted? No. They envisioned a need for a you g nation to call on citizens o use their own guns to fight for and protect the nation because we had no standing army. Once we had a military, the issue of personal guns was moot. The Supreme Court has made a mockery of the Second Amendment, clearly ignoring the well-regulated militia part.

(9,695 posts)They would say their kid died because of irresponsible gun owners or some shit. No way would they take responsibility - even if it was their own gun that killed the kid. Its not what they do.
