And malicious and mendacious swine like Trump have been around since we left the trees and started walking on two legs, so ol' Sam would have had to live under a rock to not encounter a few like him.
Sadly, there will always be another power-mad sociopath like Trump, and an entourage stupid enough to believe him. We just have to educate ourselves and our progeny so we don't fall for it again.
