As the Iowa caucuses approach, some faith leaders in the state are speaking out against a viral campaign video that praises Donald Trump and depicts him as a vessel sent by God to save America, The New York Times reported.
God looked down on his planned paradise and said, I need a caretaker, so God gave us Trump, a narrator in the video says, adding that Trump is a shepherd to mankind who wont ever leave nor forsake them. Pastor Joseph Brown of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa, who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, said the video is "very concerning."
"The original sin of Satan or Lucifer is not that he wanted to take over Gods position but that he wanted to be like God. There is only one god, and its not Trump or any other man, Brown said.
As The Times points out, the ire of religious leaders holds significant sway in Iowa since more than three-quarters of the state identifies as Christian, with 28 percent identifying as evangelicals.

Iowa Pastors Say Video Depicting Trump as Godly Is Very Concerning
The viral video shows the former president, in starkly religious, almost messianic tones, as the vessel of a higher power sent to save the nation.

A viral video praising former President Donald J. Trump has offended a key Iowa constituency in the lead-up to next weeks critical Iowa caucuses: faith leaders.
The video, which Mr. Trump first posted to Truth Social last Friday and then played before taking the stage at several rallies in Iowa over the weekend, is called God Made Trump. In starkly religious, almost messianic tones, it depicts the former president as the vessel of a higher power sent to save the nation.
God looked down on his planned paradise and said, I need a caretaker, so God gave us Trump, begins the video, which appears to use artificial intelligence to mimic the voice of Paul Harvey, a conservative radio broadcaster who died in 2009. Mr. Trump, it adds, is a shepherd to mankind who wont ever leave nor forsake them.
Since the video was posted, it has been widely shared, racked up millions of views and drawn a lot of attention. But much of that attention has been negative, particularly among Iowas pastors, some of whom said they were shocked and offended by the content.

(7,946 posts)the evangelicals and RWNJ's are always estimated at 28-30%. That they have that much power just shows this is a minority party ruling the rest of us. I'm pretty damned well tired of this crap.

(12,597 posts)I've queried again and again: where are the pastors, the ministers, the rabbis, the priests of all faiths to call out the sheer sacrilege of naming Donald Trump God or the Anointed One?
Good to hear that FINALLY they've taken note. Only took a a blasphemous viral video to shake things up.
The signal is getting through.
Maybe we should thank Trump and his crazed MAGA crew for their efforts in shouting out who and what they are.
Nah. Let them burn in the fires of their own making.

How can they look at a guy that is a rapist, thief, traitor, liar, on and on, and think he has anything to do with their god? They are obviously delusional sheep.
Reminds me of the joke about the cat going to heaven and telling god--you're in my seat.

(2,564 posts)the gist of which is that GOD, repeated over and over again in bright red, wants "all true American patriots" to support Trump so that he can do god's bidding. God really needs the help of those patriots. The ad was extremely creepy. Trump is going all god all the time.
