Donald Trumps lawyers Friday demanded the Fulton County District Attorneys office hand over documents crucial to their defense in the Georgia election-racketeering case. There was just one problem, which special counsel Nathan Wade was quick to point out. Everything that they shared was publicly released, Wade told Judge Scott McAfee.
Wade is referring to Jan. 6 investigation committee members who corresponded with the Georgia prosecutors probing Trump in 2022, as Politico revealed earlier this week. Committee aides allowed Willis team to review a limited set of evidence that the prosecutors were not allowed to keep, according to the report.
Despite the public nature of the Jan. 6 committee evidence the resultant report has its own website Trumps attorney Steve Sadow appeared in court Friday to demand Willis investigators hand over evidence shared by the House Select Committee.
Sadows demands appear linked to claims, raised again by the former president at the start of the New Year, that the committee destroyed evidence exculpating Trump. Specifically, Trump accused former Rep. Liz Cheney of erasing documentation that he offered to provide 10,000 soldiers to defend the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. This claim has been debunked.
