(37,516 posts)Nobody in Yemen is going to launch a civil suit against him in an American court and not have it tossed because he authorized actions that led to death and destruction of Yemeni people and property.
The DOJ isn't about to investigate him and the military men under him for murder.
They have immunity for officially sanctioned actions that fall within the boundaries of their authority.
Whatever Trump says in public, the court filing is clear: The claim is that actions he took that he's being tried for are those that are specifically within the boundaries of his authority. The other bit of hair splitting is being clear about exactly which actions and acts he's being tried for. People blur the legal claims on both sides to make them say what the actual claims do not say. Sticking to the actual facts is boring and tedious, so I get it.
