So if POTUS, VPOTUS and Speaker are all gone, we wouldn't have to worry about the new guy, Republican or not becoming POTUS.
Regardless, it also takes all of the Senate Seniority away from that particular seat. Losing seniority means that state loses a little clout.

(9,423 posts)If the senate were to flip l, it would be Grassley or whoever the senate chose to put in as pro temp. It is usually the longest serving member of the majority party, but this congress as an example , Senator Feinstein was passed over for Senator Murray
