If we can avoid a recession this year I think Biden wins even though things aren't perfect. Trump is a flawed candidate.
You have to scroll down a lot:
Probability of a recession is down sharply, according to WSJs latest survey of economists but for a lot of people its still going to feel like a recession. Business and academic economists surveyed by the WSJ lowered the probability of a recession within the next year, to 39% from 48% in the October survey (link). Still, economists on average expect the economy to grow just 1% in 2024, about half its normal long-run rate, and a significant slowing from an estimated 2.6% in 2023.

It will feel like a recession because people decide to overspend beyond normal activities?

"Please, please, please treat this non-recession as a recession in order to give Trump a fighting chance! Please!"

Will it be the ones that decide to take vacations in France or Italy? Maybe Cancun?

Plan on too high and too long from the Fed as usual.

(61,033 posts)6. Yep, across the board. Just talked with my gas company about much higher monthly bill.
Was told the rates went up...again.
They use this ruse this time of year: "Did you turn your heat on yet?" Which of course everyone has in the middle of December. That's supposed to somehow justify/soften the blow.
It doesn't. They raise rates whenever they feel like it.
